Ughhh Im being a three year old **updated**
My mouth has been killing me all week and I made a dentist appointment for tomorrow at 12. It sint like ONE tooth, but a pressure and throbbing pain on the whole side of my face.
The problem is I dont "do" the dentist...IM TERRIFIED!!!!
Im literally sulking and whining because I am so scared to go.
SOMEONE tell me it wont hurt or something!
Why cant they just knock you out?!?!?!
*****UPDATE*******
So I have to go on MONDAY to an oral surgeon to get the wisdom tooth out that is casuing the problem. I am frekkin flipping out and I dont think they will put me out for just one tooth... even more, I have no one to go with me and I had to call in sick to work which is making me even more nuts as I had an important meeting.

Is it's a good dentist, even the novacain will not hurt.
Be strong and when it's done, you will no longer be in pain

I have no idea.. it does not hurt to chew or anything like that so im thinking they are going to have to like remove my jaw or something... I know Im ridiculous

think of it this way hun, it hurts now right so once u go there and get it done it wont hurt, might as well get the pain overwith cause its worse now then what they will do to you..feel better

(I am no dentist) but I think if it's infected, it usually gets swollen in the tissue..
A rinse of the mouth with some whiskey can temporarily do the trick )

Go....you have to. This happened to me 2 years ago.....My one wisdom tooth was killing me...it was infected and I got it taken out that day....I hated it but it was over quick and I felt so much better!
I mean honestly I would rather go to the gyno than the dentist but you don't want to put the dentist off Jen

where do you live? I have a PHOBIA of the dentist, and I go to Dr. STERGAKOS on Merrick Avenue in Merrick. I cried HYSTERICALLY the first time I went, and then I've trusted him ever since.

haha.. yes i do.. every six months...but I never have cavaties so it doesnt scare me to go.
My two cavaties are from a LONNGGGG time ago.

I think its possible to get cleanings and still develop tooth and gum issues. It happened to me. I also have to have many childhood fillings replaced due to shoddy dental work in the 80s. I think it is a fallacy to think that you can brush your teeth and floss every day, never have sugar and soda and never get a cavity. Things happen.
By the way, my dentist greets me with a Black and Decker drill.

I agree. Your teeth are largely already determined by your genetics. Some people take excellent care of their teeth and get cavities, etc. and then there's the people that neglect their teeth and don't have any problems (like me).

If he has to do any sort of drilling or whatever, wear your IPOD. I used to be so scared of the dentist but I just close my eyes, listen to music, and get it over with.

my dad used to give me a q-tip dipped in whiskey when my teeth were coming in as a kid

I've never had a cavity so I've always liked the dentist...plus mine was SOOOO HOT! 
but I did have three wisdom teeth pulled b/c they were impacted and twisting into my jawbone...
When i went to the oral surgeon they knocked me out...I told them i didn't want to see any needles and see anything they were doing to me.
I woke up in the recovery room with an ice pack on my face!
It really wasn't that bad...they give you some nice pills to make you feel better

I'm a baby too and haven't had too much work done but when they do they give me sweet air. That's the best non-caloric drunk ever! Love me some sweet air!
Good luck, I'm sure it will be fixed and you will feel better. I have to go in two weeks for these two damn cavities.

My dentist's office called me yesterday to reschedule an appointment because apparently, I have a VIRGIN tooth (sounds sexy huh) that has a cavity and I must save it before it goes into root canal mode. Joy of joys. I guess I should get ready for the Black and Decker drill again.

Hang in there, the only thing you will feel is the novacaine, after that it's smooth sailing. Tell the dentist how scared you are and maybe he will give you some sweetair. I don't blame you, I was put out all three times I had my wisdom teeth out. Good luck!
