under the sea unit
I will be doing a thematic unit in June "under the sea" I only have like 3 weeks I have a lot of ideas but I don't want it to be all over the place.. I want it to flow. Has anyone done this unit before..if so how did you organize it?

Re: under the sea unit
what grade???
I did it in kindergarten and basically broke it up by an animal a day. I started with a non-fiction pre-reading activity/book, then during the day would do fiction books about that animal then we would usually do a craft (make the animal) In the beginning of the unit I assigned each child an animal and they had to write a sentence about it and draw a pic of it (at home- gave them websites to use) and then we made and ABC under the sea animal pop up book. We also did jello with the gummy fish as a snack. We also used a huge piece of butcher block paper and glued sand on it and made it look like "under the sea" and we added our animals that we made to it and displayed it in the hallway. THe rest of the animals went on the windows with blue cellophane. It was lots of fun and the kids learned alot.
