I don't think you can collect unemployment if you lose your job because of your own actions.

I would apply & see if the company will fight it. You shouldn't be able to get it if the policy was spelled out (maybe claim medical issues?). Many times larger companies do not fight unemployment claims.

I have had plenty of employees get terminated and still collect unemployment. Your employer would really have to contest it. We did a few times and they still got it.

My sister also got fired and got it as well.

I would try and fight it. You never know.
But yes, you can't be let go through any fault of your own to collect.

I believe you can only collect if you were laid off. But I would still try and collect anyway. Like others have said - your former company would have to contest it.

laid off is the only way to live off the government for 6 or so months  At least with the unemployement part....

I was technically fired- but really it was a lay off- they just said, "no more lay-offs" and then "fired" people one by one.
I was able to collect.
see if you can get it- it doesn't hurt to try.

They would need to claim they were unfairly dismissed. If they say they violated the attendance policy, the State may immediately bounce the claim.

Not neccesarily true. I worked for a very large national company and they fought my unemployment. They switched me from day time hours to night shift (it was a newspaper) and I quit. The company told me I would be inelligible for unemployment, but the state found that I was derservant of it as my terms of hire had changed.

I would ask the employer if they planned on fighting unemployment. There is no hard fast rule considering if you and your ex-employer have an agreement (verbal). If you put down that you were let go because of fit issues and they agree to it, you will get unemployment benefits.

thats what I had heard too. It was only if it was gross misconduct that you couldnt, So many different answers though.

That is not true, I was fired and got unemployment. I do not think most employers will fight it, but you never know
I just know that I was fired and I got it, no problem

what does fit issues mean?
meaning that you were in the job, but it really wasn't the right job for you or you weren't the "right" person for the job..the "fit" wasn't right.
There are a bunch of reasons that unemployment lists, that's one of them. Another may be lack of work..etc..
Your ex-employer and you could agree on one of them and you can get unemployment.

If you were fired for any other reason than willful misconduct, you can collect unemployment benefits. Chronic absenteeism or tardiness might be considered willful misconduct.
