United Healthcare peeps - a question...

Did you register with the "healthy pregnancy" program?

When I was preg. with DS they caught me off guard so I registered. I can't remember anything about it being spectacular so when they called with this pregnancy I just avoided them.

The new OB must have called them to notify my of the pregnancy and then the new OB called me...told me I need to update some info. So after 27 weeks I got suckered into enrolling again.

Ugh. Anyone else register and find it to be helpful?

Re: United Healthcare peeps - a question...

I think that's the program I enrolled in. I have some nurse or someone call every so often and follows up on my pregnancy. I don't really see anything spectacular about it except I got a free copy of What To Expect The First Year

Re: United Healthcare peeps - a question...

They harassed me NON STOP for a good solid month. Every day they would call me. I think they took off on Christmas, but every other day. And sometimes on weekends, at like 8 AM, and it would wake us up. I was furious. Finally they gave up and sent a letter saying the ball was in my court, and if I wanted to enroll, I could. I didn't feel like it offered anything that my dr. couldn't provide, so I'm going to pass.

I honestly don't know. I have to check. So there's no real benefit except a nurse? I have a MIL who is a nurse, I think she'll be more hands on. Chat Icon

I've never heard of the program, actually! Do they expect you to pay for it? I'm sure they know I'm expecting by now... odd. They better not call me at 8am!

I did. It's free, why not? They send you a book they said. Last pregnancy I had Aetna and I got a free copy of the Mayo Guide to Pregnancy.

Re: United Healthcare peeps - a question...

At the end of the phone call I felt like it was just a ploy to get information on me to be used for statistics or something.

Questions like:

Are you married
Is this your first pregnancy
If it isn't did you have a c-section or vaginal delivery
Did you have any complications such as GD or PIH
Did you have fertility assistance
What is your height and pre-pregnancy weight gain

I felt like saying, are these questions so you know whether or not to raise my premium should I get pregnant again Chat Icon

Re: United Healthcare peeps - a question...

They been leaving messages and calling me at home at least four times a day. They finally got me when I was home so I signed up. I figured it couldn't hurt and it was no extra cost.

Re: United Healthcare peeps - a question...

I enrolled in it, they haven't done much. Like the others have said, they offer access to a 24 hour nurse. But they did send me a $100 gift certificate to a store of my choice (from a list) for enrolling. I picked Destination Maternity! So it was worth answering a few questions for that!

actually I am laughing now bc I remember this was my first rx too. .I thought it was some phishing scam so I kept trying to make them prove they were who they said they were. Chat Icon

They called me, I enrolled. It's free, it's my first kid, I figured it couldn't hurt! So far I just got one basic welcome letter from them and that's been it.

Me too--I guess they didn't want to call me, or send me a gift!

Re: United Healthcare peeps - a question...

yup, I registered. Just like the PP's said... got harassed with a phone call everyday till I called them back. Then, since I had a guy to talk to I felt weird being asked the personal questions.
Got some books and stuff in the mail. Haven't done anything with it
