unsure about vitamins/juice

At our 6 month check up last week we got a perscription for vitamins for DD. I am on the fence about giving her these. I have read a lot of things that say babies don't need them until they are a year old. Can you share what you do for your baby?

DD is formula fed, and eats only organic home made baby food. I am on the fence here about the vitamins.


I am also unsure about giving juice too.

Def do what you feel is right for your baby

My girls don't drink juice and i never offered it (besides for constipation for my infant, but my oldest doesn't even like it) They LOVE water.

I just started giving my 23 month old vitamins cause she's an awful picky eater-otherwise she wouldn't have them either, I don't forsee my 9 month old getting vitamins anytime soon.

My DS will be 6 months on Saturday and I personally am not going to give him juice. My Pediatricians believe that it only reduces a baby's appetite for more nutritious foods and increases their risk for excess weight gain. I agree with this.

I am not sure about the vitamins.

I give DS juice mixed with water but not every day. He doesnt take vitamins yet though. I will wait until the ped says he needs to take his vitamins.

My kids both prefer water over juice.

My 2 year old just started with plain old Flinstones (1/2 a day) and my 1 year old does not take any vitamins yet.

I have only given her juice once (she was having trouble pooping). Which it quickly helped, but this won't be an everyday thing for her. I just don't want to start bad habits with craving sweet things. I really dont know what to do about vitamins.
