UPDATE 9/17/11 !Is 1 week too short of a time for an RSVP date for a class party?

I am so beside myself right now I want to cry Chat Icon

I was on Etsy looking for invite idea designs for my DS's birthday party...Was thinking of using one of our local ladies , but stumbled on a design I really loved and since it was such an "original" type of design, thought the fair thing to do would be to buy through the Etsy seller (didnt want to copy her idea)

All communications were good, she mailed out the invitations Priority Mail on
9/8 and I should have gotten them in 2 days....

They never arrived and on further investigation, they got lost by the Post Office in NJ
Chat Icon

So I contact her and she never responds back.....Come to find out she is on vacation until September 19 !
The RSVP date is Sept 30 Chat Icon

I wrote in the e-mail I would pay for overnight shipping, but if she's away , that leaves a week at best to hand out invitations before the party....Thats IF she even bothers to contact me back, now that shes already been paid $60.00!

My other option is to "attempt" to make them myself (she sent an unwatermarked proof)...They arent photo invites....

WWYD?
Is 1 week too short of notice?
Should I try them myself ?

Also, do you think I will have to re-pay her for all the invites again, or just postage and maybe ink/paper?

UPDATE !

Well the seller replied to me while she was away and said when she got back she could overnight them for $30, so thats what I was prepared to do ....

Lo and behold, the ORIGINALS found there way to me today Chat Icon !!! So these things have been sitting in post office limbo for 10 days ! I'm just so relieved and happy I got them so it will at least give people a little more time to rsvp Chat Icon

Thanks to all who replied Chat Icon !

depends.

my friend got so busy and threw together a party for her younger DD pretty much the same week it took place. invites went out, she apologized for the last minute notice, everyone pretty much came (she did NOT expect this)...

i'm too much of a planner to be able to pull that off. if i were you i would get something out asap even if it means buying a pack of invites at a local store and filling in the blanks.

Thats just it....

I am SUCH a planner...This party has been planned for months and these invitations go with the theme....

I guess I am going to have to try to duplicate them myself Chat Icon

if you want I can try to copy it in photoshop for you. just email it to me.

But she has already been paid & I woudn't want you to have to pay again. Can you call everyone as a save the date?

Thanks so much...I do appreciate that !

See the issue mainly is that its more of the "assembly" portion thats the problem....
The invite itself is quite simple, but she has it mounted on mini manilla folders...And the outside is stamped "CONFIDENTIAL" Which I guess I would have to try to make somehow ...
Here is the sample she has online (mine has different font etc)

Oh, and the teacher has not given out the class list yet , so dont think a save the date would help much Chat Icon

Have you done any research to finding mini manila folders?

I think this is something you can make yourself - as long as you can find the folders...and I know that Staples or some place like that will have the 'Confidential' stamp.

Oct 8th !

The only saving grace I have is that I can technically blame the teacher because the class list wasnt handed out yet Chat Icon

If those were manilla they would be perfect, but I actually think that template may just work !!!!!

I just printed one, now I am playing around with the size of the "wording" part to see how it looks Chat Icon !!

Since this was a WWYD, at this point she's been paid the $60. I would wait until Monday & talk to her about your options.

The only reason why I'd say wait is it feasible for you to do this all by Monday? By the time she gets back, you may just be getting the folders & then by the time you get them in the mail it's Wed.

Thank to Marcie I think that the template just might be the way to go !!

I have to go get some manilla folders to cut down to size, so I just did a practice run with an envelope I had and did a sloppy job but what do you think ?

TBH, until you just pointed that out I didnt even realize the 19th is Monday Chat Icon

Ugh....I hope the seller does the right thing and gets them out to me Chat Icon

In the meantime I am happy to know that I have this option worst case
scenario and that my whole invitation plan can still work, just later than I had hoped...

Thanks to all!!

ETA- I think we may be doing his whole class so a good chunk will be handed out
(which will cut down on some time)

Looks very cute!

I do like the confidential stamp thing. Maybe try this:
Stencil fonts
