UPDATE!!!!! Baby is in Breech position at 37.5 weeks.
I just came from my Dr's visit for the week and turns out DD is in a breech position.
He wants me to make a decision to either have a ECV - where they try and get her to turn or to schedule a c-section 7 days before my DD.
I'm not sure I want to do the ECV - it looks and sounds so painful and totally not natural as far as for the baby. I mean it sounds so stressful for her, getting pushed and squeezed in a tight spot already just to try and get her head down.
It is a 59% chance of her turning during this procedure. If she doesn't then I still have to have a c-section.
I don't know what to do. This has thrown me for a loop. I need to call tomorrow to make an appointment to have this done (if I decide to go through with it) either Thursday or Friday. If not I will have a c-section Jan 5th.

Re: Baby is in Breech position at 37.5 weeks.
I was in your exact position 2 weeks ago. I decided to make an appointment for the version even though it made me nervous. Well, I didn't really need to make any decision bc my water broke 2 days later before I had my appointment. I had a section bc baby was still breech. But my dr told me afterwards that the version probably wouldn't have worked bc she was basically transverse doing a split with one foot by my cervix and the other up towards my ribs . He had a difficult time removing her.

My DD was also breech from 32 weeks on. My Dr. Asked if I wanted to do the ECV, but DH and I opted out. Like you, it looked painful, and didn't have a high success rate, so we just went for the scheduled c-section. I was very happy with my decision.

Re: Baby is in Breech position at 37.5 weeks.
I went home after I was told (also at 37 weeks) that my son was footling breech. I read a bunch about it and decided that the risk was not worth it for the chance that it would work and not even great odds. In the end I feel that I made the best and decision for my son and myself.

Re: Baby is in Breech position at 37.5 weeks.
I posted about this a lot of times, but I opted not to have the version. My hunch was that there was a reason DS didn't turn. In the end, the decision not to turn him saved his life. The cord was wrapped 3 times around his neck, very tightly. The version could have killed him. If you choose to have the version, make sure they do a 3d sono to check for the cord. A regular sono will not show it.
And in the end, the c-section really wasn't bad. I'll opt for another one for our next child.

Baby is in Breech position at 37.5 weeks.
I had a version-- but my DC had turned breach at 39 wks and change. We did the version 4 days later (day before his edd). Before I had the version, I did moxibustion and some chiropractic. I would also recommend spinningbabies.com. If you want details about the version, you can feel free to FM me. I have also posted about it. It really wasn't that bad in terms of pain or effect on baby (judging by his heartrate), and it was successful, so I went on to have a vag, non-medicated birth, which was super important to me. Good luck!

I also was going to suggest spinningbabies.com. There are a ton of exercises you can do to help get baby into position. You still have time.

Re: Baby is in Breech position at 37.5 weeks.
I tried turning the baby with the same procedure. She didn't budge. I don't think it bothered her or did anything bad to her, but it traumatized me. I hated it. It was painful, very painful. The doctor made me feel like it was my fault she didn't turn. I wish I didn't do it. I ended up with the Csection of course and it wasnt bad at all. I would just go straight for that since ive been through it all now.

UPDATE on decision!!! Re: Baby is in Breech position at 37.5 weeks.
Thanks for all the feedback.
Turns out DD made the decision for me. My water broke Christmas Eve morning @ 445am. I went to the hospital and was in L&D waiting to be seen by the Dr. when I jumped out of my skin in excruciating pain.
DH called the nurse because all I wanted to do was push. My Dr. Just happened to be on her way over to me. She literally checked me for 3 seconds, ripped her gloves off, said "I am going to go put scrubs on, this baby wants out now but she's doing it all wrong. Her entire left leg and foot are in your vagina!"
After that It was just a complete scramble of getting me into the OR at that point and DH into scrubs. She was out 12 minutes after they started the surgery.
Eleanor Eve decided she wanted to share her birthday with Jesus I don't think she realizes this doesn't mean she gets extra extra presents on her birthday. Lol
