Update: BTDT Moms with Gallbladder issues
I'm currently almost 15 weeks with #2. I've been getting sick. A LOT.
Last night after dinner my stomach was bugging me and it got progressivley worse throughout the night.
This has happened 3 times in the last 3 weeks.
Think it could be my gallbladder? Any insight would be appreciated.
Update: Went to my OB and she thinks it is the gallbladder. They're having me go for a sono on Monday to confirm and then we can figure things out from there.
Thank you for all of your help!

Re: BTDT Moms with Gallbladder issues
What exactly are you feeling? I had really bad pains that started in my lower back and then moved to my upper abdomen, sometimes I also had pain in my right shoulder. Most of the time I would throw up, but not always. The pain was horrendous...like it hurt to breathe and I couldn't stand up straight. I was 11 weeks preggo when I had my first attack.

Re: BTDT Moms with Gallbladder issues
My pain was right under my rib cage, like where my diaphragm is. It would start one hour after I ate and the attack would last about an hour (sometimes three ). There was no getting comfortable. You can't stand, sit or lay - it's just horrible. Some people vomit and have a fever, but I didn't experience that. I knew I was having or had an attack because my urine was very dark after. Have you noticed that? Where are you located? I can recommend an awesome doc if you need

Re: BTDT Moms with Gallbladder issues
Last night I ate dinner and thought it didn't agree with me. I started to feel very bloated up high in my belly (at the top of my ribs)
I spent a good chunk of the night in the bathroom (sorry TMI)
I didn't have a fever but did throw up a few times.
It's not comfortable to lay, sit or stand upright.
I'm feeling slightly better now but still pretty crumby.
I live in upstate NY but I appreciate the offer for a dr rec.

Re: BTDT Moms with Gallbladder issues
I had attacks while pregnant that I did not know were attacks until after she was born and I ended up in the ER with an attack that had lasted 3 days. Then it all made sense. I had my gallbladder out the next morning.
Basically it was a sharp severe pain under my right rib cage. Nothing helped the pain. The pain radiated into my back and shoulder blade Throwing up etc
Eating anything at all aggrevated it when I had the worst attack but the other attacks were brought on by eating greasy foods.
I'd have it checked out for sure. I don't think they will do much until after you deliver though unless it's a severe issue
ETA- gallbladder issues are very common in pregnancy because your digestion slows down and bile sits in your gallbladder and forms stones...

Re: BTDT Moms with Gallbladder issues
I saw Dr. Vitolo who is associated with St. Catherines of Sienna in Smithtown. He was EXCELLENT!!!!
You NEED to go see a surgeon, your OB or gastro doctor pronto. You should get a sono to determine if it is gall stones!
Bad news is, they would not take mine out until after I delivered DS. I went through 8 months of random attacks and many times admitted to the hospital.

Thank you everyone. I just spoke to one of the OB's at my office and they're having me come in to do some bloodwork and an appt tomorrow to see if that's what's up.

Re: BTDT Moms with Gallbladder issues
About three weeks after my 1st child was born, I was sitting in my living room about to call 911 while my DD slept in my arms because I seriously thought i was having a heart attack. It is the most terrifying thing I have ever experienced. Finally after about 10 minutes (Yup that entire time i felt sharp pains and was struggling to get air in my lungs) it gradually stopped.
My second attack happened a week later and after the third attach one night in bed I was so scared I decided to tell my husband and my mom. I waited to tell them cause I didn't want them to worry.
I saw my dr and had a ekg and all the tests, I saw a grastroenologist and finally surgeon and it was confirmed that I had gallstones. It is normal to develop gallstones during or after pregnancy and I decided to have surgery to remove my gallbladder.
I KNOW I made the right decision. An attack can happen at any time! And since my surgery I have had no issue again.

Re: Update: BTDT Moms with Gallbladder issues
That's good! The sono will show if you have any stones. Plus bloodwork to check liver enzyme levels etc
Those attacks are no fun. I hope you get some relief!
