UPDATE: How much should I expect to pay for the enhanced NYS drivers license?

I can't find the information on the website. All I see is a range. I have all of my paperwork. Just going from a regular license to enhanced. It depends on my age and where I live? huh

The fee range is $6.50-$13.00 for a Non-Driver ID and $64.50-$180.50 for a license. A fee of $30 will be due for an Enhanced license in addition to the range above Fees depend on your age when you apply and where you live. Exact fees cannot be calculated until you apply. Visit driver license and learner permit fees for more information. Payment can be made by cash, credit, debit card, check or money order made out to Commissioner of Motor Vehicles. Please note: Your documents must Be original or certified. We cannot accept photocopies, damaged or illegible documents. Have the same first and last name (If your name changed, bring an original or certified copy of your marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court issued name change. Documents must be issued in the U.S.) At least one document must have your full middle name (if applicable). Be printed off if your proof of residency was sent to you electronically. Any photo document that you are not clearly recognizable Bring your glasses or contact lenses (if needed) to pass your vision test for license renewal or original permit. Your proofs of residence must show your current address (cannot be a P.O. Box). DMV cannot accept two proofs from the same financial institution (bank statement, credit card statement, ATM card, credit card or cancelled check). I made an appintment and was in and out in 30 minutes! Woo hoo! Only waited 5 minutes for my number to be called. New license cost $110.50.

Wow, that is insane. So people pay more more less depending upon age and address? I guess I would bring a check and expect to pay the maximum but hope to be surprised and lucky to pay less. I guess they charge depending upon zip code and age. So if you are older you theoretically could afford more. If you live in a wealthy town, you pay more. I am surprised this is how they are doing things.

One of my friends just renewed her license last month and got the enhanced. She paid 135.00. (She’s 54 and lives in the town of north Babylon. II didn’t realize there was a range until I seen this post!). Mine is up for renewal in March. Wonder how much mine will be! Ugh!

It’s been over a year but I think I paid about $135. My husband paid the higher range of $160 bc he has a commercial license.

My guess is the range is more what type of license (regular, commercial) you have more than age.

DH and I both have passports, so we opted not to get the enhanced license.

I bet the fee for where you live is higher for NYC metro area including LI and lower for Upstate.

I just went with the Real ID. It's the same price as the regular license and can be used to fly. I don't really frequent the places the Enhanced allows you to go to without a passport so it wasn't worth it for me (and I have a passport anyway if I did choose to go to Canada or wherever else accepts the Enhanced).

For a Class D license in the NY Metro area it's $80.50 (for the Real or regular old one) plus $30 for the enhanced.

Dh went today and also paid 110. However, he couldn't make an appointment yesterday bc the were zero available. He waited 3 hours. When I checked today the only appointment available was 2 weeks away which would have left him with an expired license for a few days (and he wasn't available that day anyway). Definitely recommend trying to make a reservation well in advance of when you plan to go.

i just went yesterday for the enhanced license- I paid $110.50

Suffolk - I walked into DMV no appointment I was done in about 80 minutes... not as bad as I expected....
