UPDATE in OP - Please send prayers/good thoughts for DS...
I don't normally post about things that happen with DS but I could really use some extra prayers and good thoughts for him.
I took him to his pedicatrician yesterday because when he gets excited or laughs a lot, he would sound like he was having trouble catching his breath. Turns out that isn't anything serious, just an immature voicebox.
However, his doctor was listening to his heart and something sounded off. He thinks it's just an "innocent murmur" but since he didn't hear it at birth or during his first few checkups (he's 11 mos now), he wants us to get it checked out with a pediatric cardiologist. We have an appointment with a Dr. Vallone in Mt. Sinai on Monday.
Everyone keeps assuring me it will be fine and that lots of babies have murmurs and are fine. I keep trying to remain positive but I have that little voice in the back of my head that keeps whispering "what if it's not?".
I am so scared. Please send some extra prayers and positive thoughts for DS.

6/10 - Well we took Benjamin to see the cardiologist yesterday and they did an EKG to check everything out.
The doctor gave us the wonderful news that it is just an innocent murmur and the structure of his heart is fine. We are so relieved!!! I could have kissed the doctor when he told us.
I thank you all for the FM's, prayers and positive thoughts. It helps so much to have such a group of wonderful people to share the ups and downs with. Thank you again.

If it helps to hear, my pediatrician picked up my heart murmur when I was 18 months old. Every year we would go to Columbia Presbyterian to have a check-up for it. It never restricted my activity (well, I'm not supposed to run marathons, darn it  ), and I am not supposed to swallow any blood b/c of the bacteria, but I'm *thankfully* not bothered by it (and I actually have a heart condition that causes the murmur, not just a murmur)
Anywho...I hope all goes well, think of the great check-up he'll get at the fancy doctor's office!

He said more serious conditions like mitral valve (sp?) problems can be but not murmurs. I know it's probably not serious but until I hear the doctor tell me my baby is fine, I'm going to be on pins and needles.
