UPDATE Just found out my cat has a big heart (pic added)....
My cat has been coughing and has a gurgling sound when breathing, so he had a chest xray today and they saw that his heart was enlarged. The gurgling sound is fluid build up in his heart. He is on medicine now to help clear the fluid, and he is going to have an Echo done by the cardiologist next week. I have been doing research on heart disease in cats online and everything that I read just makes me cry. I am so devasted. He is only 5 years old and I can't imagine life without him. Gizmo is my little mama's boy!! And on top of all this, I just lost my ferret last week suddenly. This is too much to deal with. 
Has anyone else experienced this in their cat? Are they doing well?? Please send prayers Gizmo's way......

Gizmo was seen by the cardiologist today and had an echo. His heart looks ok! It's a little strange though because he is responding so well to the medication that is clearing the fluid build up, and typically that means there is an issue. We're adjusting the dose of his medicine, so hopefully that works out. And hopefully his heart doesn't get worse. Thanks for all the prayers everyone!

so now gizmo was up all night sneezing up a storm. and today his eyes look really watery. i called the vet and she said to try giving him the antihistamine again. it that doesn't clear it, we're heading back in for another check-up. the poor guy has been through so much lately....i feel so bad he's going through this now too. and i'm so worried about all these things that are going wrong with him...

So we brought him back to the vet today. Now he has an upper respiratory infection and conjunctivitus. this means more medicine. i just hope he gets better soon.
