Update! My rings are stuck!

My wedding band and engagement rings are stuck on my swollen fingers. I tried soap, windex, and the floss trick and none of them work. I might end up trying the floss thing again and wrap more of my finger more tightly because I got it the furthest with that one but it got stuck on my knuckle. If I can't get it off, is it bad if I leave it and hope I don't swell too much more? It's leaving an indentation on my finger now but it doesn't seem to be affecting blood flow. Anyone leave there's on?

Update! Got them off...soaked in ice water for 15 minutes and then used lots of olive oil. DH had to pull them off though when it got to my knuckle because it hurt so bad and I would never have been able tohurt myself like that!

Re: My rings are stuck!

Did you try soaking in ice water?
The cold should shrink your fingers. When it's cold out my rings get loose.

How long have you had them on?

How far along are you?

Unfortunately, there may be nothing you can do. Your best bet is to avoid all salt and drink a ton of water for a few days. Soak your hand in ice water, and then try the string technique. If it still won't come off, then it may just be stuck. Hopefully your fingers don't swell more, and then once you have the baby the swelling will go down. Otherwise, your only option will be to cut them off. Hopefully it doesn't come to that!

My rings are stuck!

It's going to get worse and will cut blood flow even more. Eventually they'll have to cut them off. As much as it's going to hurt you're going to have to pull it off. Happened to me once. Try olive oil. Margarine/butter.

Run your hands under cold water to bring some of the swelling down.

Agreed. I would NOT feel comfortable leaving them on! Definitely try the ice water- that's the only thing that's helped me.

Good luck!

My rings are stuck!

Thanks for the responses! I'm 37 weeks so I don't have that much more to go but I'd hate to cut them off. I think I'll try to soak it and then do the floss thing again. I'll wait a few days though because it was definitely more swollen last night from the trauma of the process. I iced it and it went down to it's usual swelling.

Thanks for the help!!

If you're 37 weeks, I'd probably just leave them. My wedding band got stuck during my second pregnancy and the hospital never said anything about them being on.

Re: My rings are stuck!

I would try to get them off. I tend to swell really badly toward the end of my pregnancies and have had to take mine off both times. Try lotion or hair conditioner - I find those work well for me.

My rings haven't been off in 19 years; since I had my first lol. Not an issue even when I had my my csections most recent 6 months ago.
