UPDATE: Need help. Shower locations in Huntington/Commack area
It's a VERY LONG story that makes me more than a bit that basically I have to plan my baby shower.
My mom's deceased, Dad is disabled and I have no sisters and both of my SIL's live OOS. Ever since the wedding I have learned that my family and friends, who are long done getting married and having kids, really could give a @#$% about me or DH even though I was more than generous when it was their time.
I seriously debated even having one because, with the extra expense of having twins, I might as well forgo paying for the party and spend the $$$ on all of the things we need.
Then I said why should I go without? Especially since we went through so much to even get pg and there will be no Christening or other religious equivalent.
So w/ no energy to speak of these days I need to find a place ASAP for late Jan or early Feb in Northern Western Suffolk.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. You can FM me prices if you know. It will probably be for 30 people.
TIA and sorry for the vent, it just came out.
UPDATE: Ladies, thank you so much for all of your suggestions. I have off tomorrow and plan on running around to several places to check out availability and prices.
Hopefully, all will be set by Sunday. Thanks again.

I'm sorry you have to plan the whole thing yourself. That is not fair. But I am glad you are going to have it.
My mom is having mine at the Red Dish Grille in Commack. I don't know the prices, but she seemed okay with it and she said they have been very nice so far.

You read my mind - Red Dish is a really nice option. I have never been to La Familia in Smithtown but every weekend I see TONS of people attending showers there. I think Blue Honu in Huntington has a private room. Sundried Tomato in Nesconset is delish also...
Sorry to hear of your frustrations with fam & friends... at least this way you can have the party that you want, right?

Re: Need help. Shower locations in Huntington/Commack area
How many people are you looking at?
Maybe: Red Bar on main street - we went there after my wedding, it was nice, also Jonathan's on Wall street - my dad had his xmas party there last year and it was very nice....

I went to a really nice brunch shower at Nocello in Northport. I'm not sure about the prices.
Sorry you have to plan it yourself.

Re: Need help. Shower locations in Huntington/Commack area
We just had the twins Baptism at orlando's on Commack Road. They have a shower package that I think runs $23 pp for an afternoon. Crismicka has also had several parties there and highly recommended it. Bonwit also does a nice party. I think they are a little more pricey.
I LOVE planning parties!!! I'd be happy to help you!

We had Cole's christening at the Red Dish -- it was awesome. It was really one of the least expensive places I found, but had the most to offer. I'm thrilled with them.

Not sure if St. James is too far, but I had my shower at Villa Sorrentos. It was so nice, and the food was great. I had it on a Sunday afternoon and you have the whole restaurant to yourselves.

I am sorry about the extra stress.
My friend had hers at La Famiglia in Smithtown & it was great, the food & service were amazing. I think (and I am not sure) that she paid $32 per plate. (she also had to plan her own with DH) We had appetizers to share for the table, including Fried Calamari, a salad and a choice of 4 entrees, one of which was veal.

Re: Need help. Shower locations in Huntington/Commack area
T- You have no cousins or Aunts? Or Grandparents or co-workers or MIL or old bridal party members who can help you?
And your SIL's can surely throw it from OOS. I did it for a bridal shower for my friend in Florida. I didnt need much help? That is if your close with them of course?
Sorry I have no ideas on locations in that area either though.

Re: Need help. Shower locations in Huntington/Commack area
Mine was at 105 Harbor Road in Cold Spring Harbor- I have no idea what it cost though- my MIL planned it.
I'm sorry you have to plan your own shower but I am sure it will be beautiful wherever you have it!
My friend had hers at the VA Hall in Kings Park- very casual but really nice!

Oh - I just remembered, my friend's shower was at 34 New Street in Huntington. It was excellent. I'm not sure how much $ though. She did her rehearsal dinner there too. It was really nice and the food was really good.

I did my sisters baby shower at the Bon Wit. It went very well. And my girlfriend just had one at Lucarelli's on Commack Road. I was sick and couldn't make it but everyone raved about the food.

Re: Need help. Shower locations in Huntington/Commack area
Theresa,
I had Roman's Christening at Indigo Restaurant in Huntington Village. It was small around 35 people, good food and good prices. We had the balcony which wasn't closed off but was still good for us. I don't remember the $ but check their website for info. Hope this helps

Re: Need help. Shower locations in Huntington/Commack area
If you want to save some money but have a good meal you might want to look into having it at an Italian restaureant that serves Family style.
My best friend unfotunately just buried her dad and things were tight with money. we went to an Italian restaurant in Northport (I can't remember the name) and the food was awesome. Everyone left stuffed and like I said the price was so much cheaper than paying by the head. They picked 3 entrees to put at each table ( a nice mix for everyones taste) Like I said we all left stuffed. i'll give her a call and ask he rthe name of the restaurant if you want. Good Luck

Re: UPDATE: Need help. Shower locations in Huntington/Commack area
Yes, it's been booked for a while now. We are having it at my brother's friend's restaurant. He's the chef there and the food is yummy.
We decided to go spend the money ourselves if no one was "going to step up to the plate". As we will have no Christening/bris or any other religious equivalent, and considering these babies are true miracles, we are doing it!!!
My BF tried to get my OOS SIL involved and SIL said... "I don't think I want to get involved" OK, ******, next time you need me... funny, I think I'll be busy . Who says that????
Thanks for asking, Kara.
for Ebs
