Update: need new doc ASAP Suffolk...Bleeding....just stared 2nd trimester...scared

My friend just called, she just started her 2nd trimester. She's had cramping, MS, most of her pregnancy.

I know its limited info but does it sound like anything good could come out of this?

Tia for prayers for my friend

ETA: friend called doc bc she had more bleeding over night. Yesterday doc said stay home unless she bleeds thru a pad in one hour. She's really nervous about it. The doc said bed rest, wouldn't see her today. Her apt is tomorrow afternoon.

I know it's been asked a gazillion times, but if anyone has a rec in the Medford/coram/stony brook area or there abouta, please let me know. She really wants to change docs.
She prefers a woman but is ok w a male. Someone with good bedside manner...

Again, thank you in advance.

Praying for your friend. I think something like 1/3 of otherwise healthy pregnancies have some bleeding. There is definitely a lot of hope for your friend!

Re: Bleeding....just stared 2nd trimester...scared

I had bleeding at 17 weeks...it was only one small gush (TMI) but it was terrifying! I didn't have any cramping associated with it. The doctor wasn't able to find any cause and it seems that all is fine now (2 weeks later). My doctor told me I should keep my feet up and relax as much as possible. Good luck to her.

Doc said to rest and make an apt tomorrow morning unless she bleeds thru a pad in 1hour. It stopped/slowed down. She's very nervous to begin with. I could hear the panic in her voice.

How did they determin a ruptured placenta and what do they do for that?

Re: Bleeding....just stared 2nd trimester...scared

they did not know it was until we got to the hospital..

basically baby a who was my daughter, the way she was positioned(i had twins) he head was in a bad spot and every time she or i moved her head was hitting it causing it to bleed

they showed me as they touched my stomach and pushed down a bit where her head bobbed and she kept banging into it

i was put on pelvic rest which i was already on and told no sex no lifting etc and to rest as much as possible for rest of the time

Re: Bleeding....just stared 2nd trimester...scared

I recently started my 2nd tri and I have a history of losses, so I'm always on high alert for these things. This is the weekend we planned for so long to come out to family and of course this weekend I had a bleeding episode Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon It happened early this morning and followed by laying in bed crying wondering what I did to deserve a pregnancy filled with so much fear.

Well, baby is fine and bleeding tapered off. There are sooooo many reasons for bleeding in pregnancy. It's so easy to jump to the worst case scenario (believe me, I've lived it numerous times). I'd say she should relaxed and put her feet up as long as she's not filling up a pad. In the morning she should call her doctor to let them know what happened. It could be soooo unnerving.....

Some people are just more prone to bleeding in pregnancy than others. It stinks but if baby is ok, that's all that matters. In my case, the cause of the bleeding was unknown and baby was absolutely happy as a clam, kicking around. Good luck to your friend!!

Dr Erhart is in Port Jeff on 112. He is AMAZING, love him and his entire staff. Never had a problem getting an appointment and he never had a problem with me just coming in to hear heartbeat if I got nervous (had a prior miscarriage). His number is (631) 474-4917. If she prefers female Dr. Tufano is great too and so is Theresa. Good Luck to your friend!

No recommendations but, I had bleeding at the start of the second trimester with DS 2. I went to the hospital (since I was on vacation) and was told to do modified bed rest for 3 days.

Thankfully, it turned out to be nothing - thinking of your friend.

Second this! Dr Tufano is my doctor- she is great- she called me on a Sun morning and talked me through my miscarriage because I was flipping out. I saw Erhart once and he is great too.
