UPDATE: OK- really scared..... passed out at mall
this is part 2 of my post from friday
link to post
Yesterday I thought I felt better and my blood pressure seemed ok so I went to stop and shop. As soon as I walked in I felt strange again and rushed through shopping to get home. I relaxed the rest of the day.
Today, my mom picked me up to go shopping (again I thought I felt ok and BP seemed fine). I did feel strange again just before we left b/c I ran up the stairs to answer the phone. I just chalked it up to running up a steep flight of stairs. I felt fine after a few minutes and we left.
I felt great getting out of the car but began to feel wierd again walking through the store. I sat down on a bench outside of the store and my mom ran to get me something to drink. I was sweaty and nauseous but felt better by the time she got back. Stupidly, we continued on going to Motherhood. I started feeling wierd again on the way to Macy's and managed to get to a seat in the shoe dept. There I ran into an old friend that I used to work with there and I talked to him and told him how I was feeling. I recovered a few minutes later and my mom and I went to the 3rd floor to the materity dept. I started feeling wierd agian and told my mom that I just needed to get out. We started back down and all of a sudden on the escalator my eyes went very blurry and my hearing started to go. I felt out of breath, my legs and fingers tingled and I was nauseous and sweaty. I made it back to the shoe dept. to sit and everything was swirling around me. I felt like that for a longer period of time but came around. Needless to say I went home after that. I shouldn't have stayed after the first time, but thought I was just panicing thinking I would pass out.
I called in sick for tomorrow and will call the Dr. to get checked out.
I am SO scared! I have been eating and drinking plenty. Ironically this is the first week I have been feeling well- energetic and able to hold down food. The past 4 months I haven't been able to keep ANYTING down! Why is this happening?
TIA for any info into this!
Lora

I have passed out twice and felt the same way you described. Granted, I wasn't pregnant at the time, but I found my dizzy spells happen when I have no sugar in my body. You say that you're drinking plenty, but are you having anything with sugar? Try drinking some orange juice every day and see how you feel. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well.

Re: OK- really scared..... passed out at mall
I passed out when I was 17 months pregnant. We were actually working on our registry for the first time and I passed out in Baby's R Us and knocked over a whole display of bath toys. I called my OB and they sent me to the ER and it came up that I had a heart problem which freaked me out, but I followed up with the cardiologist and they said all was normal, that the ER just probably put the leads in the wrong place.
Everything you are describing about how you felt is exactly how I felt. We later thought it might have been from my blood sugar because I ended up being positive for Gestational Diabetes.
I hope you're feeling better and that it won't happen again! I know how scary it is!

Re: OK- really scared..... passed out at mall
Thanks all!
I just got off the phone with my Dr's office and the nurse practitioner who took my call just said "wow! you need to come in RIGHT away!" that reaction really scared me more! She was so urgent in her tone of voice!
Well, I go at 2:15. Wish me luck!

Re: OK- really scared..... passed out at mall
It sounds like you are having panic attacks. I used to get them really bad right after my daughter was born. You should see your dr. so he/she can reassure you that everything is ok, so this way if it happens again you can keep telling yourself you are ok. Good Luck, Get rest!

Re: OK- really scared..... passed out at mall
OMG Lora...what a scary ordeal! I will say that while I have not experienced this during PG, I have experienced this before. Same symptoms....my hearing goes, vision gets blurry.....it happened to me in the ER while I was there for something else. I had always assumed it was a hypoglycemia thing-they checked my blood sugar and that was fine. I've never followed through with it.
I hope you find out what's wrong and take it easy!! Keep us updated!

Re: UPDATE: OK- really scared..... passed out at mall
UPDATE:
I'm on bedrest for the next week or until the symptoms stop. Basically they are sending me for blood tests to rule out anything, but the Dr. just said it's due to low blood pressure from a combo of the baby sitting on something and not enough liquids- which is hard b/c I'm not holding anything much down Unfortunately it's a vicous circle. nauseaus=can't hold down anything=not enough fluids=low blood pressure=fainting=nauseaus etc
I'll keep you all updated! So, I'll be home for the next week or so or longer

Feel better! That's so scary. I'm glad you're talking to your doctor about it. Too many times, I've blown off symptoms I shouldn't have.
