here is Jennifer's update from yesterday...she is still fighting

Waiting.. that is the word of the day. We are sitting here waiting and watching our daughter die. I thought the past 8 weeks was hard but I now realize there is more pain to feel.

Paxton now has a fever of a 102.6. Her breathing is still erratic. Her coloring is now not the sweet baby pink but has a bluish tint to it. The whites of her eyes are not so white. She can not eat because she wretches and throws it up even though she has a neissen and shouldn't be able to. So we have stopped her feeds and have her on IV fluids.

She is comfortable for the most part I think. She is still seizing frequently. Her arms are so stiff. We are giving her Ativan generously and can give her Morphine as needed too.

I just cuddled her all night long but didn't sleep much because she wakes and seizes every few minutes and sometimes she gags violently so I need to make sure she doesn't choke.

I love this baby so much. I can not believe that I will not be spending the rest of my life taking care of her. I can't believe my time with her willl be cut short and now we have to sit and watch her die. I have used the word cruel before and it is the most appropriate word to explain it all. No one should ever have to go through the pain of losing a child but to have to sit and watch them die is beyond cruel.

I know my faith has been shaky at times. And I would love to sit here and tell you that it is now rock solid. If I did I would be lying. But I am getting a peace about me knowing that I am getting this precious time to spend with P before she goes. And some how I think God is preparing me for her departure. I think he knows that if I sit and watch her seize over and over and be riddled with infections that I will know that there is worse things than death. The pain is going to be unbareable when she goes knowing that I will never see her again. But my love for her allows me to want the very best for her so I wait for the time to come when I know she will finally get her peace. I have been talking to her all night telling her when she sees God's hand reaching out to her to take it.. to run fast into his arms. Because as wonderful as it is to be in my arms his will be 10X's better. I will never understand why God has allowed this to happen to my family, but I am trying to reflect on what he is doing to help us get through it.

I am going to go rest while Lacey snuggles with our girl for a few hours. The Dr.s warned us we are in for a long few days at the very least. So I ask that you pray that God gives Sweet P peace and doesn't allow her to suffer before she enters his kingdom. That she knows the love that her mommy and daddy have for her and finds comfort in our arms.

Give your loved ones an extra hug today and know that you are blessed to spend even one minute with them.

ETA: may the powers that be help baby P drift off sweetly without pain. Maybe Paxton is just waiting for mommy and daddy to say goodbye and that's it alright to go in peace

My heart breaks more and more each day for this family. I really wish there was something we can do for that baby.


This is when my faith in God is questioned, why would he let this poor baby suffer.. i just dont understand.

I know I keep saying it, but my heart aches for this family. I can't even imagine what they are going thru. And even know, just sitting here thinking about them, my eyes are welling up with tears.

This is truly the saddest thing I have heard about in a long time.

Thank you for the update - It is so hard for me to read them, but I am constantly thinking and praying for this poor sweet baby and her family. Life is just not fair.

I didnt read yesterdays post bc I could not get through it... I did read todays and I feel so bad for her family.

I pray that the baby does not suffer and that the parents find peace.

THis has to be so hard for them.

I pray for this family and baby.

My heart breaks for this poor family and that precious child. I could never imagine having to go through this. I pray that baby P is not suffering and that she goes peacefully.
