Update on ME for those who remember who I am.. good things DO happen

Some of you may remember me, some of you may not. I originally came to this board last Summer (exactly a year ago in August of '09 to be exact). I had lost my first pregnancy at only 4 weeks & 5 days and I just felt like it was the end of the world. Such a loss i wish on nobody - not even somebody I could hate. NOBODY deserves such horrible pain. I went on to try again and lost the next pregnancy at 5 weeks & 2 days. It seemed crazy that this would happen. I always got my periods right on time, never had any health issues. Neither did my husband. So my doctor said to just keep trying. I hated that advice, but did. Like always i conceived right away, but this one didn't make it much longer than the first two. At this point I had had enough. The depression was becoming intense from these losses. I demanded to be tested and ended up having viles and viles of blood taken (my husband did too). We got the full checkups and after a couple months of stress and waiting, the results came back as - wouldn't you know it- NORMAL. Everything was fine. My doctor said that there was nothing more I could do but to keep trying Chat Icon

I ended up seeking advice from a friend who I knew had experienced the same thing back maybe 10 years earlier. She told me something that had worked for her and I thought maybe I'd try it. She said that she stopped trying to cocieve and instead spent a few months JUST testing with OPKs and temping. As she did this, she discovered that some months she would ovulate on CD16 and other months it was on CD14. Odd. So she decided that she would ONLY TTC on the months it landed on 14. That's literally all she did different and after three horrible miscarriages she is now the happy mother of 3 beautiful little girls. So I decided to try it. Before the miscarriages I was ALWAYS CD14 like clockwork, but after the first m/c it moved to CD16. So I spent 2 or 3 months JUST doing OPKs. And I discovered one month where it DID land on CD14. So me & Dh decided this was the month to try.

Like always I conceived first try - but now the long scary weeks of waiting and praying were ahead of me. I told nobody of this pregnancy excect for my mother who would pray with me daily over this new life. God was certainly in the midst of those prayers. I spent that time taking my prenatals, a baby aspirin a day, and a progesterone pill at night. Me & DH also abstained during the first trimester (which was difficult, of course, but I just couldn't bring myself to risk ANYTHING). Now that i look back I have no idea if any of these methods REALLY helped, but I am now at 13 weeks and baby is healthy as can be.

So I want everybody who is experiencing a loss to know not to give up. There IS hope and there ARE happy endings. I know this child will continue to grow inside of me and I am sure that each and every one of you who has experienced something as awful as the loss of a baby will have healthy pregnancies too.

I won't make this much longer. I just wanted to share, especially for those of you who know me from back when I posted more on this board. I keep every one of you in my prayers.

It can feel so frustrating. Trust me, I know. It's been a horrible experience. Have you gotten tested? I had so much blood taken and got tested for so many different problems it could be. If you haven't done that yet, it's certainly worth a try. Health Insurance covered it for me.

Hang in there. I'm sure it'll happen. Sometimes it just takes a bit longer than we would like. If you want to talk, FM me anytime Chat Icon
