Update on reflux- but need more advice
Katie is 6 weeks old. For the last 3 or so weeks she was crying ALL the time if she was awake. We started her on zantac monday and she is like a different baby! She smiles! She still has some trouble at night, gets very fussy and cries while she eats, but she is doing so much better. It is amazing! We are so happy!
Our newest issue is that she will only sleep in our arms, and she wants to be held all the time. I know they say you can't spoil a newborn but I think because when she isn't feeling well we hold her to comfort her, so she is used to being held all the time. She can not fall asleep on her own and if you put her down after she falls asleep, she wakes up within 10 minutes and cries until you hold her again. I will not let her cry, she is too young and I am not prepared to do that. What do you guys think? Dh and I are sleeping with her on the couch every night- it is killing me!

Re: Update on reflux- but need more advice
I feel your pain. We still have sleep issues at 5 months but it has gotten better. What helped us when he was little was the snggle nest. It goes in between your pillow in your bed and you can have your arm on her. You just have to make sure you have a flawless transfer(from arms to bed). My husband would put him down and leave his face cheek to cheek until he settled in. It was really funny to watch. He had major digestive issues, colic and gas. The miracle blanket also helped because he was already swaddled before we put him down.

The closenes is comforting and being upright is soothing, hold her all you want, befire you know it they don't want you to hold them and let me tell you, it;s heartbreaking, I wish i could rewind time and hold my daughters again, now they are big girls (6 & 3) and I have to beg for them to climb into my lap

Thanks, I finally went out and bought the snuggle nest. I hope she will sleep in it!

She probably will grow out of that. At Katie's age we were using the snuggle nest elevated with something folded under it. We would swaddle her, bounce her to sleep ont he exercise ball and then we could lay her down and we would usually get 4 hours or so out of her. The next round though she would sleep with me. Hang in there and just keep trying one day she might surprise you.
