Update : Prayers for my girl (long)
Update: Went to her doctor yesterday, who is fabulous and caring and I do not know where I would be right now without his compassion. We are back to chemo 1x a week for the next 6 weeks, then 1x every 2 weeks for 6 treatments and so on....he is very hopeful she will respond as well as she did the first time and has assured me that in his gut he feels she will go back into remission. I was in tears every 20 minutes yesterday all day but it seems to be subsiding, I think Im running low on tears anyway. So now it is time to be strong for her and go on, I will keep everyone posted Thanks for the thoughts and prayers I really appreciate it, please keep them coming though
--------------------------------------------------------
Please, please, please pray for my little girl. Mercedes (the white one) was diagnosed with cancine lymphoma in January 2007, she was is such bad shape that she was in the ICU for 14 days, then we had a year of aggressive but successful chemo treatments. Her doctors are wonderful and right before her birthday in November 2007 she was considered in remission. (There is no cure for canine lymphoma, remission is agreat accomplishment though). We continued her recommeneded year of chemotherapy and in JAnuary 2008 she stopped all chemotherapy. We went just for a check up in Feb and March and all of her blood work came back fabulous and she had put on a few pounds too. The doctors said since she was fddoing so well we could move to every other month check ups. Our next appointment was scheduled for May 26. Well, yesterday morning after letting the three girls in from outside, there it was, the golf ball size lymphnode sticking out of the side of her neck. I went into hysterics, I called her doctor and spoke to the one on call who then called her treating doctor (on his cell phone on his day off within 20 min of my first calling them) They told me to bring her in immediatley so we could start on the blood work to check her organs, make sure it was definitly what I thought it was and not something else. She has been put on prednisone for the next 2 days and I have an apt. Monday mornning at 9am to start IV chemotherapy again. Please, pray for this to be another successful round and she goes into remission again. I am heartbroken and have yet to stop crying, my poor nail lady yesterday must have thought I was having some type of mental breakdown. I have done my fair share of eastern mendical treatment but western medical treatments I am not very familiar with (herbs). I have heard of a hollistic doctor in SPeonk who comes highly recommended, I was just wondering if anyone know of an animal who went to him (Dr Wen) for treatment of canine lymphoma. Im sorry this is so long, but thank you for taking the time to read it and pkease, just pray for her healthy recovery

Re: Prayers for my girl (long)
I am so sorry to hear about this, I hope and pray the treatment she receives will put her back in remission.
As for Dr. Wen - I know someone who went to him. She has bulldogs and was very pleased, INITIALLY.
After a few bouts with some skin and breathing issues and I'm talking YEARS with these issues, she finally changed doctors and is going the non-homeopathic route. The dogs are doing MUCH better.
I wouldn't out right say Dr. Wen is a bad vet (mainly b/c I have NOT had personal experience with him) but I will say that my friend no longer sees him and her dogs are notably doing better for it.
Of course before going to this other practice, she had nothing but praise for Dr. Wen as do many others so I think everyone is different and you really have to look at things on a case-by-case basis.
I would certainly at least speak to Dr. Wen and see what he says about her condition and if there's anything you can do while she's receiveing treatment but I wouldn't give up on the chemo. It's worked in the past for Mercedes, I just wouldn't take that chance with my dog.
Good Luck!!!

Re: Update : Prayers for my girl (long)
My dog was diagnosed with this last March and went through chemo as well...he went into remission pretty quickly because I caught it so early. We just thought his glands were swollen - it wasn't quite golf ball stage yet. He's been done with chemo since October or November and at his last check-up the vet said she thought he was still in remission - I can't really afford to keep taking him back though - it's a 45 minute drive and cost $50 just for the visit - and more if they have to take blood or do whatever other poking & prodding is necessary. I've been giving him rubdowns to feel for lumps and he seems fine. But I think I need to make him another appointment soon. I just hope the cancer stays away for a bit longer at least or that maybe he'll be in that 1% group that never gets the cancer back. We just take it day by day. He's a middle aged mutt and we hope that he's around for a few more years.
So more for your pup and for you!
