UPDATE with new Question: Progesterone Shots

So today I start the dreaded progesterone shots Chat Icon

Did anyone give themselves the shot?

I have given myself every injection so far - but they all have been in the stomach. I am much more comfortable giving the injections myself and really do NOT want DH giving them to me!! I know the 2 of us and it would be disasterous!!!

I watched the video and it looks like I should be able to do it - I would do it in front of a mirror. However, I spoke with the nurse today and while she said I could, she thinks it really needs to be done by someone else Chat Icon

What did everyone do?

UPDATE: So I did my first progesterone shot last night by myself! I warmed the area first with a heating pad and warmed the medicine. After the shot, I massaged the area and warmed the area again. The shot was not at all painful, but I did bleed a lot - though I know that is fairly normal.

However, I woke up today and the area where I did the shot (as well as the rest of my tush on that side) is soooooooooooo sore. Any tips to prevent the soreness? TIA Chat Icon

Re: Progesterone Shots

I did them myself with no problem.
My DH would nevvvvvvver be able to do it!! He can't even look at the needles.
It's not so bad once you get used to it.

Re: Progesterone Shots

I had DH do them. I couldn't have done them to myself, even though I did all the others.

DH went out of town at one point and I thought I was going to have to do it - Laura told me to come in and she'd show me in person...she kind of faced the wall and leaned against it, then twisted around and did the shot. She said the biggest problem is people sort of jumping away from the needle and if you're against the wall you can't go anywhere, KWIM? Call her if you want, I'm sure she'll walk you through it.

Good luck...you're braver than me!

I used to cry when I had to do the progestrone shots. I too did all my own shots. Now I am pregnant my RE has added daily progestone shots, They do not bother me at all. I do it in front of a mirror. I don't even feel them anymore.

Good luck to you.........

I've never done my own.

I hate to see needles and the PIO needle is HUGE!

Re: Progesterone Shots

DH did them for me, I did all the others myself.

If I had to do it myself, I would though.

It's not so bad. Just ice for 10 minutes first and it's ok.
