UPDATE with new question...What color for the walls? With Poll

I'm trying to pick a color for our living room. At first I had my mind set on a chocolate-colored brown, but now I'm not so sure... (sorry for the terrible pictures. I took them really quickly, but you get the idea...)

ETA: (5/9) New question. I'm considering maybe doing wainscoting. Would that change your opinion on what color I do the walls? TIA!

I think that brown with blue accents looks nice. Are you afraid of the chocolate being too dark for the whole room? How about a lighter mocha in most of the room with the dark chocolate on an accent wall?

I just worry that the chocolate would be too much. I never considered doing it on the accent wall and then doing the rest a lighter color! Hmm...decisions, decisions.Chat Icon

I did BM drifscape tan and we have beige couches and a blue carpet. I am looking for curtains with blue, brown and tan in them.

Pics are in my album.

You can always get those little sample things of paint to try out the colors at home...I think its like a couple of ounces of paint.

Our basement tv room has chocolate leather couches & I use blue accents. We painted the main part of the walls a color called "mocha" something...its a behr paint, I can't remember the exact name. We used a color called "chocolate sparkle" for the accent stripes its behr too.
I was going to do a blue wall as an accent but I'm glad I didn't because I've had the blue & brown for almost four years & I think I'm ready for a change. It will be easy to bring in another color because the walls are still neutral.

We just did BM Wedgewood Gray which is a really nice blueish color and would match the blues you have in your pillows and wall hangings. Also if you wanting to do wainscotting I think it would look nice.

I took pictures last night of the room I will try to post them.

I say go for it with chocolate- but not too dark- more rich.
definitely try the samples, or even a quart.

Re: UPDATE with new question...What color for the walls? With Poll

I'm thinking of that same color scheme for our bedroom. DH is afraid to have us paint the walls a dark brown, for fear that it'll make the room too small. So now I'm thinking of reversing it so that the walls are a pretty blue color, and everything else is brown.

I think with your rugs, pillows and pictures, a dark brown would look AWESOME in there! Does the room get much sun during the day? Because I think that's a huge factor when decided what color to do...

Re: UPDATE with new question...What color for the walls? With Poll

we are going to do our fireplace wall chocolate or a darker brown and the other walls a lighter creamy coffee color (it's really popular down here). I think if you are going to do wainscotting, I'd still go with brown, but maybe not chocolate.

Our couches are green and we have cherry laminate flooring!

Yes, the room actually gets a LOT of sun during the day. I'm still on the fence on this one Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Not to hijack, but this is a great basement tv room. Love the whole arrangement.
