update with response...Babysitting question quickie..do I have to reveal I am 10 weeks pregnant?
On the hunt for a new kid.
Found a perfect one...3 days a week, 3 year old boy.
Due in March, really want this job...mom is fine with me bringing kid to park, library, driving around...
but I don't know when to tell her...if I even have to tell her...its not like I will be under contract or anything.
thanks!
she got back to me, so we will see....
Thank you for being up front! It's usually the thing to do when you have a 2-3 year old... I was the only mom at preschool drop off for my 3 year old that didn't have a baby bump!!! Of course, I had already been there done that. We are going to narrow down the field and do some phone interviews this week. Congrats on the baby...both of mine are March babies, it's the perfect time of year to be preggo and have a baby!

My only concern would be if you stop watching the kid once March comes? If that was the case I would give her a heads up, she may not want to switch in a few months KWIM? If you are still planning on watching the child once DC#2 is born then I would imagine you could wait longer!

You should tell her. Its only right for her to know that after March she might need to find alternative care

yes, tell her. I know that if I knew that my sitter was going to be out of commission for a few months or that I may need to find new care come march, I would want to know
do you plan to quit once new baby comes?

Re: Babysitting question quickie..do I have to reveal I am 10 weeks pregnant?
thanks!
don't think I would be sitting with new baby...esp since I only have room for 2 carseats...
I guess I would have to see if I want to hang around their house and not drive, just walk around...
DH says don't tell, for 6 an hour I don't have to tell her until ready.
I will seem sneaky if I don't reveal, but I think I will wait right until she is about to hire me.

I would be a little upset if I hired you, only to find out that I wouldn't be able to count on using you long-term. That's just me...

Don't regret telling her. The bottom line is, you did the right thing. I know it would have been, and still might be, great to land this job, but it should be up to the parent if they like you enough to keep you for the next 6 months and then start again, or to try to find someone who may be in it for the long haul. I really hope they decide to hire you anyway/
