UPDATE: YEP, DH broke his foot.
He tripped over a gratiing (hard to explain) on the street in Manhattan. He says he sort of twisted his ankle but not exactly. He got very dizzy after it happened but he got on the train to come home. He's diabetic. When his brother, also diabetic, broke his wrist, his blood sugar got all out of whack from the shock of it and he was in the hospital for several days and it was scary. I am freaking out. I am leaving my office now and DH's dad met him at the LIRR. DH didn't want the conductor to get him an ambulance.
UPDATE: Foot is broken. Uggghh! I guess there is never a convenient time for a broken bone but we both keep saying that this is bad timing. His blood sugar was a bit high when we got home from the hospital. He insists that it was because he may have taken too many M& Ms to compensate for low sugar. With my nerves the way they are, I think my voice sounds like Estelle Costanza's. As I take care of some chores, I shout through the house "did ya check your sugar?" I already woke the baby with one of these reminders. So, DH has a broken foot but I am the pain in the A S S. I'll be changing ice packs and acting as sugar meter police all night!!!!!!!

Hope he's OK... 
I'm diabetic, and when I shattered my elbow (as in, requiring surgery), my blood sugar never fluctuated that much, even though I was very lightheaded from the pain.
I've also hurt myself quite a bit with bike riding and karate over the years, and it's never affected my BS, so hopefully your DH is the same way....

I am diabetic too and have broken a couple of bones back in high school and never had problems with the blood sugar. Your DH should contact monitor his blood sugar closely the next 24 hours and if it is going high he should contact his endocrinologist for advice. good luck!
