*****UPDATE****4-29 not a morning person

ok since I babysit my nephews and I have my own 2yr old I have to wait to go running in the evening which by then after a day of watching kids (I also have 2 older kids) I am so tired I dont even wanna go but I do

I really should just get up and go running in the morning but I am NOT A MORNING person at ALL

do you think its worth it to get up in the am?? I mean it would be great to get up run and be showered and have it done already.
I actually think that would be great

is anyone else here NOT a morning person but does this??
if so do you get in a "GOOD" run or are you sluggish and slow??
thanks

UPDATE*****so I got up and went running this morning and it was one of the best runs.....it was nice and cool out and I came home and showered and got dressed for the day and I am done now I dont have to worry about what time I can go etc
I think the morning may be the way to go for me

Re: not a morning person

I am sooooooo NOT a morning person!!!!
BUT - I get my arse out of bed every morning at 5:15 and do my run - I am done in an hour - its really the only time I can fit it in, what with working full time and coming home to 3 kids.

Otherwise - I used to do it at 8pm when everyone went to bed - but that was too exhausting, then i tried coming home and immediatley going to work out - but felt that took too much time away from the kids - since i wouldn't get done until around 6:30 and they go to bed at 8.

This was the only way to go for me - and believe me - I have to FORCE myself every single day - but I feel so much better afterward.

Re: not a morning person

My entire life, I was NEVER a morning person. I always worked out in the evenings. The the thought of getting up in the morning to work out (or do anything, for that matter) was horrifying to me.

About 5 years ago, I decided to try it. It was tough at first, and I had to start verrry slowly, a little bit at a time. And it probably took a good year before I stopped absolutely dreading it. But after awhile, I was able to do my workout full-strength. I know it probably sounds corny, but it literally changed my life. I am now a morning person. I love to get up early and get things done...even on the weekends I am up by 7 and out of the house by 8.

I still work out in the evenings sometimes, but now working out in the mornings is like second nature to me.

So yes, it can be done!!

Re: not a morning person

It's absolutely worth it! I am not really a morning person but I find my workouts are really the best in the morning. I have never have an excuse and it feels soooooooooo good to have it done with first thing so I can relax at night after work.

Re: *****UPDATE****4-29 not a morning person

I used to go running before work at 5:45am because it was great to not have to worry about the gym after work.

Now that my sched is more flexible, I don't really work out that early anymore... I'm usually doing cardio or at the gym around 9-930am-ish.

BUt it is nice to have it out of the way for the day!

I am not a morning person at all. I can't force myself to do it. I will end up doing it if I train for the NYC marathon because in August it will be to hot to run after work.

I am so proud of youChat Icon
