Re: PLEASE HELP..ANY MOMMIES WHO ARE ON-LINE RIGHT NOW--14 MOS OLD Daughter---and FIRST FEVER and ITS HIGH, ADVISE NEEDED IMMEDIATELY!
My DD had a 102 fever once and I gave her tylenol. It went down within a half an hour. She was acting normally too, so I didn't worry about it. As far as I know 102 is not that high for babies.

I agree with the other posters that I wouldn't take a baby to the ER with a 102.

i agree with lots of the other posters.... 102 is high, but not horrible.
when DS has a fever, i watch more how he is acting and dont pay AS MUCH attention to the fever. I know he 's sick when he's cuddly, etc. If he's still happy and playing, I'm not so worried.
DS tends to run high fevers. Here's what we do in general, just to he lp you the next few days in case the fever continues:
we use tylenol usually because motrin upsets Ds's stomach. We use motrin with the tylenol if the tylenol isn't workign by itself. We only use motrin during the day when DS has food in his tummy - we never use it on an empty stomach with him.
during the day we try to keep a wet wash cloth on his head, or we make a "head band" out of two wash cloths and safety pins. This seems to help DS a lot.
if the fever is very high we give a luke warm bath.
at night I set my alarm to wake up shortly after the tylenol is supposed to wear off. I check on DS by feeling his head. If I think his fever is still pretty high, I slip some tylonolin his mouth while he is still pretty much asleep. Or I'll pick him up and rock with him, give him tylenol, and then put him back in the crib.
HTH.

I know it's scary! PM Pediatrics is only open till midnight. I would (and have) go there, but not the ER. Toooo many germs.
Alternate between the Motrin and Tylenol. Motrin always does seem to work better.
Put her in a luke warm bath. It is not fun for the baby, but it will instantly bring the fever done.

I am happy that you Doc advised you to take your DC to the ER. With all the stuff that is going these days we cannot take any chances and that is why I responded by saying I would definitely take my DD to the ER without hesitation. I hope she feels better soon!
