UPDATED #4 (2:00pm) at the bottom.....Okay... so went to see Dr. Braverman today and he would do something different...
UPDATE #2...Okay.... Here we go---- Really liked Dr. Braverman... he's really funny. He too said that I definitely have a short luteal phase. He said 75% that it is a problem.... 25% that it isnt. His plan for treatment would be more aggressive... he would start off with Clomid, then he would make me ovulate by giving me a shot in the abdomen... then follow up with Progesterone. So basically the same as the other dr, except that he is adding the Clomid in the beginning of the treatment. I told him afterwards what the other dr said and would do and he said that his way is more aggressive due to the fact that I already had one miscarriage. Either way, I have to wait until I get my period, then call either dr.
So my question to all of you.... which would you do??????!!!!!

He seems to think that the Clomid will boost the progesterone and quality of the eggs...

By combining Clomid with progesterone support during your LP, the doc is tackling your problem from both ends. It's a more aggressive treatment than progesterone alone. Best of luck!

Are there any cons to doing this??

That makes sense...plus it may give you an extra follie or two to work with.
Sounds like Braverman may be giving you an "edge". GL!!

Clomid will not boost progesterone, but what it does do is thin your lining. Plus, you don't need an HCG shot to ovulate, you are already ovulating and getting PG. Personally - and I can't beleive I'm saying this - I would go with SanRoman and just the progesterone. I sincerely don't think Clomid is going to do anything extra for you at all, except maybe give you extra follies - which in your case could easily get you PG with twins.
This is why I didn't think you needed an RE - you don't need to get PG, you need to stay PG.

me too, it seems like he is being aggressive to be aggressive. And the shot in the belly would be the trigger shot which is for when a) you dont ovulate on your own or b) you need a well timed IUI that cant be timed with good monitoring. I never had a trigger when I did IUI

Re: Okay... so went to see Dr. Braverman today and he would do something different...
I am also very biased when it comes to Dr. Braverman - since I saw 2 other RE's and none of them could get me pregnant (even w/ perfect AA blasts). Dr. B specializes in recurrent losses. After our initial visit, he sent me SO much scientific literature to back up what he was saying. That office is so advanced and he thinks so far outside the 'box'. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder that my other RE's told me was NOT an issue. I'm 13 weeks pregnant now thanks to Dr. B.
Also, Diana is right - the one on one attention you get from him is like no other. I had an issue w/ this pregnancy and he opened his office at 7pm on a saturday night to do a sono for me.
I wish you all the luck!

Re: Okay... so went to see Dr. Braverman today and he would do something different...
Clomid does not thin your lining unless its used over and over..I dont think you have to worry about that for a one time use.. I always ovulated on my own.. But Dr B always triggered me to better time the IUI.. And the benefit he claims to the clomid is better quality. and of course more foliies for a better chance of success.. And I am sure it will be a very low dose.. Why dont you give both a shot.. Go to the other DR first and if it (God forbid fails) then try SHER..for the more aggressive treatment.. Good luck in what ever you decide..

Yeah I agree with Gerty, I would skip the Clomid. If you are able to get PG then you shouldn't need Clomid, just the progesterone. I'm of the camp that if it's not broken, don't fix it. We dealt with male factor and I didn't take drugs until I had to do IVF. I knew my cycles were fine and I didn't want to mess with them.
I am a fan of RSofNY (they got me PG) but I have actually not said anything to you since I knew Braverman specialized in recurrent m/c's and figured you would be better off there. Now I am really curious where he is coming from with this treatment plan
Just curious, how long are your cycles? I feel like I remember reading Clomid actually makes Ovulation happen later in some people.

Re: Okay... so went to see Dr. Braverman today and he would do something different...
Thanks ladies!! So went in for my follow up blood work to make sure my beta went down... spoke to my OB... layed it all out for him... he still says that personally he thinks that I can do it on my own... but he said that he loves Dr. San Roman (the 1st one) and that he would stick with him and just do the progesterone. He sees no reason to go through all of that other stuff. He really made me feel better. So that's what hubbie and I have decided to do!!! So now we just wait for AF to arrive and PRAY THIS WORKS!!!!!
Also... my cycles are 29 days... I O on CD21-22...

Re: UPDATED #3 at the bottom.....Okay... so went to see Dr. Braverman today and he would do something different...
UPDATE #4! Soooooooooooo after I make my decision... I receive an email from Dr. Braverman... basically it was a follow up, and to give me some information and he also said that of course if any of the treatments have me concerned we can always start with just the progesterone and work our way backwards if there is another untoward event. He finds so little problems when he treats all three(especially in someone who has suffered a loss like me)that he goes right to the full treatment. So now I'm confused... because honestly, where else do you get one on one treatment like this??!! But maybe its protocol for the SHER institute? I don't know what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not seen Dr Braverman or San Roman but I have heard really wonderful things about the SHER practice and personally I would really prefer the one-on-one treatment...
I am currently with East Coast Fert - Dr Styne and I don't have any complaints so far...

Re: UPDATED #4 (2:00pm) at the bottom.....Okay... so went to see Dr. Braverman today and he would do something different...
I thought clomid helps to lengthen your LP because it makes your eggs mature sooner and the HCG shot would ensure she ovulated at day 14. So I think she would need the cloimd if she is miscarrying because of a short LP.
My mom had 3 MC's b/c of a short LP and got prego with my sister on one round of clomid.
good luck!

You are right,..... buttt because I am so close to the "cusp" of having a problem, Dr. Braverman also thinks that it is HIGHLY LIKELY that the progesterone will be enough.
