{updated} First RE Appointment Tomorrow - its finally here and I'm terrified!
Our first appointment with the RE is tomorrow, and I think its safe to say I'm officially terrified! I called to schedule the appointment a couple of weeks ago and now its here!
That might seem really silly at 33 years old, but I have a horrible time with needles and doctors. I know I need to grow up and get over it because I'll have a lot more of this stuff in my near future but for right now I'm ready to  over all the blood I'm pretty sure they'll be taking to run tests.
They can NEVER find my veins, so that doesn't help at all. I just end up getting stabbed all over the place until they admit that they need help and find a "specialist" who can eventually get a vein to draw blood.
Can anyone help calm me down?

Thanks so much for helping me through yesterday! 
Everyone at the RE office was so sweet and nice. It was inspiring walking down the hallways seeing all the pics of babies. DH teased me and said they could just be pics of babies they found on the internet 
I was so terrified of them taking blood, but they didn't take any since they really want the Day 3 bloodwork and he wants me to have a whole workup done b/c I'm Jewish (tay-sachs, etc). I'm sure that means a TON of blood. The nurse suggested that I ask them to use a "butterfly" and that I ask to lay down, so I'll try that.
I'm such a geek - I brought a print out of all my BBT temping charts from the past year. He looked them over and said they were "pretty charts" and "textbook" ... so that made me happy!
So after a pap & internal sono (that I'm STILL cramping from!  at myself!!!) we've got some "next steps" -- SA for hubby and HSG for me hopefully this week, then Day 3 bloods.
They had us sign off on insemination in case my tubes are clear in the HSG and DH gets a thumbs up from his SA.
Overall we definitely liked him as a doctor, and liked that he was thorough and "present" in our consultation. He was kind, caring and we got along with him nicely.

You will be fine!! When I went to my first RE appointment I asked my dh if he thought they were going to take blood   I was SO nervous about this!
After that initial appointment, I was FINE!!! (I was fine then too  but after the first time I was no longer nervous) I walk in and lift my sleeve like a pro.
Honestly I don't really have much advice for HOW to get over it- you just have to take one for the team and do what you have to do. Just remind yourself that it's just bloowork- and you are doing this to get pregnant where trust me... there will be A LOT of blood work! I like to also remind myself that the goal here is to give birth, which is a lot more painful than any needle in the vein they will be sticking you with!
Good luck at your first appointment! I remember my first RE appointment very clearly and remember leaving VERY inspired that I would be pregnant soon! My original due date was EXACTLY ONE YEAR from my RE consultation- Which was January 18th 2010 and my due date for my son was January 18th, 2011

good luck!!
dont be nervous. no one likes needles but you get used to it very quickly.
the appt itself should leave you at the very least feeling like you either have a plan or at least like you are trying to find out the cause(s) of your issue(s). just try to remember the big picture when you are going through the annoying stuff like bloodwork and sonos during AF. in the end its for a great cause, so you will get through it!

really depends on your history and RE. for me i think it was 2 or 3 tubes. nothing crazy. although they may send you for more bloodwork after. if you need immune or thrombo testing it could be up to 20 tubes. but dont worry about that now cause it wont happen tomorrow.

I dont let them take blood out of my arm anymore. For people who's job it is to take blood, most really SU CK at it Now I just hand them my hand and let them go to town...no bruising and 98% of the time they are able to get me on the first try.

I was going to say this.. it was about 2 or 3 which is nothing. If they need anything major they'll give you a script and send you to a lab for it.
I think I can deal with 2 or 3 tubes ... thats not so terrible (comparatively speaking of course!)
I was fearing it was more like the 20+ tubes range ... and dealing with the emotions of the appointment & giving that much blood all at the same time was sending me over the edge!
Feeling much better knowing that it shouldn't be that much blood.

Be careful! Everyone is different. They did this to me once and it hurt a lot and I bruised worse than I ever did getting blood taken from my arm.
It's hard getting blood drawn at first but you do get used to it. I have learned where my good veins are and now the nurses can usually get it on the first try. At my first appointment they did not take any blood but they did give me a script to get bloodwork done. I hope all goes well for you tomorrow!
