OMG! Girls, I had to run home to pick up something I forgot. I spoke to my day care provider when I dropped of Grace today and they are in!!!! They will be donating their time to the non-profit once we are up and running. I was crying when they said yes, I was so happy.
Plus, they want me to speak at a meeting that they have with other providers once a month. 
I just had to share this. My daycare provider is a recovering cancer survivor. She had thyroid cancer when her kids were 2 and 4 years old. She told me that she wished this was in place for her and that is was an awesome idea. She even gave me names of the folks in NYS that I need to talk to.
I cannot believe this is coming together and really happening. I am so happy, you all have no idea how happy I am.  I cannot wait to get 501C3 status so that I can outline & explain my plan to all of you!

I think it is a great idea. I do not know anything about how non profits are set up. But I do know, if something like this would happen to me, I would have a hard time with daycare. I do not have any family in the area, and as much as I love my friends, I would feel bad depending on them for everything. Good luck!

Like the pp if I was in this situation it would really difficult because we have no friends or family near by since we moved.

I am in the process of setting up a 501C3, talking to NY State about it, and taking to a few day care providers and hospitals in Orange County where I live.

I think it's an excellent idea! I live where I have no support so I would seriously need something like this if, God forbid, I were to get sick.
Why would you take your post down? It really is a good idea & you should let other parents read about it.

ETA: I wanted feedback from other moms. It would make no sense to start this if people thought it was a dumb idea.

I think it is a great idea and you could even extend it to include people caring for family members who are ill. My father is dying from cancer right now and my mom is with him all the time and I live nearby but I'm not much help since I have the two kids. But if something like this existed where I could drop my kids off for a few hours to be able to give my mom a break or help my dad, my level of stress would be a lot lower than it is right now. Go for it! I hope you get the support you need!

I think it's a great idea, and if you're willing and able to start this up there would definitely be moms who would use this service.
I also agree with ddune2 that if possible it would be great to expand it to parents who have become caretakers of family members who are sick and therefore also need backup childcare, support, etc.
We are lucky that people like you are there to step up when you see a need, good luck with this!

Well, to be honest I do not want someone to start something similar before I have the 501C3 status and I am actually a non-profit.

This will be up for about 5-10 more minutes, I am on my way to work. Thanks for all the feedback ladies!!!! I am so excited to be able to help others.
This "project" will take my mind off all the negative cr@p and I am focus on something positive for a change. THANK GOD. I know it is a lot on my plate, but DH and I talked over the weekend and he is going to help a lot more and told me to go for it!!!!
ETA: Thanks for all the feedback ladies!! I am off to work. I will let you all know when I get 501C3 Status and then I will post about the program!
