Updated: Please recommend your pediatric dermatologist

The one recommended by DS's doctor doesn't take our insurance (CIGNA). Preferably one in Western Suffolk but we would travel for someone really good. Thanks!

Update: Yikes! I called Dr. Kristal's office after a couple of you recommended him. They can't see a new patient until April 7th! That is crazy. DS has one big toe that the skin just keeps peeling off of. It doesn't spread to the other toes or seem to bother him. Our ped tried two different prescription creams that didn't work. Now I'm supposed to let it go another two months? crazy!

They are probably too far for you, but DS sees Dr. Roxanne Abitbol at South Nassau Dermatology I really like her. She is really nice and explains things clearly. Listened to all my concerns about different meds the pediatrician and allergist had us using and talked to me normally about them, not a lot of medical jargon.

I highly recommend Dr. Kristal and Dr. Hayman. They didn't take our insurance, but even so it was well worth it! If I'm not mistaken, there's only one main pediatric dermatology practice for Long Island. There are other dermatologists on LI who see children, but they didn't specialize in pediatric dermatology.

We were able to get an appointment with them pretty quickly, which I was surprised by. The secretary told us that the wait is really long if you're requesting an appointment outside of school hours.

I just took DD to see Dr. Hayman. I got an appt fairly quick and he was very nice! We saw him in Lake Success though.

We also see Dr. Krystal, in Lake Success. I like him and I think he is good, but be prepared and have all your questions ready for him - the appointment is quick! He will answer anything I ask, but once he thinks, he's done, he's off to the next patient. It's a very busy office.

where are you located? we are in Queens . Our Ped also recommended DR. Solowey in Rego park Queens(bc we couldn't get an appt with dr. Kristal for 2 months), he is by the Marhsll's store. The office is old and the front desk person sux , but the dr was very good . He is old and has many years of exprience and he was very nice and gave us the whole box of moisturizer samples he wanted DD to use for dry skin.

Try again next week. DS went to see him. He is a new patient and had an appointment within two weeks of calling. We must have gotten a cancellation.
