Updated...Need help from any family or criminal attnys that might be on the boards today please...

DH is going through something with his ex and his daughter and long story short...Ex is with someone who has a record and has put DH's daughter in dangerous situations and now after alittle snooping in Fla. come to find out his ex has just recently been arrested and is out on bond. We suspect DH's daughter is being left unsupervised as well as other situations that I would rather not get into on the boards but being that we are in NY and they are in FLA. and the ex has spent her exsitance turning his daughter against him DH doesnt have a relationship with his daughter were the kid is going to tell him anything. Alot of the info. we have is from my son who is close to her and of course watching her myspace. The ex goes to court on August 30th in Fla. and I would like to have as much info. on this case as well as past cases there might be and the boyfriend. DH wants to turn it all over to Family Court and try to take his daughter out of there. I've managed to find stuff on them in Fla. like evictions and traffic infractions but I cant seem to find a site in NY that will allow me to get public records, criminal or not without becoming a member or paying some ridiculous membership fee. Can anyone tell me if there is one? Please help running out of time Sorry I left out the fact that the boyfriend went a way for awhile in Nassau County and that the ex is facing a felony charge in Fla for resisting a police officer with violence(love to find out what led up to this).
***Turns out DH finally vented to his daughter through myspace alittle and ****** her off enough to make her mother call my house! Well after DH spoke to her(his ex)not mentioning of course he is aware she was just arrested. He was told that they just moved again. DH explained why he told his daughter off(because she told her father to fu**ing get over himself(she's 15)and that he wanted to know why the kid was posting pics of herself with her boobs hanging out and posting youtube videos she and her friends made in her house when they werent home drinking and the ex tells him oh yeah I've seen them and that's nothing, not a big deal(NOT A BIG DEAL THE KID IS DRINKING ON CAMERA AND POSTING IT ON YOU TUBE AND THE INTERNET!!)and yeah well that's your daughter I basically have washed my hands she does what she wants and no one can stop her and oh yeah by the way her cell phone yeah she had to have a blackberry you know your daughter nothing less then the best!!! So DH asks her how she expects the kid to show her any respect if she's telling her parents to fu** off and getting suspended from school and doing drugs and drinking and you reward her with a blackberry! OMFG!! I still cant believe this was the idots response to him being concerned for his daughters welfare. So DH gets on the phone with his daughter and tells her it's important to listen to his mother and stop being so disrespectful and do what she's supposed to do in school and she tells DH well if I listen to other people then Im not my own person am I ! DH tells her maybe you should take some advice from people who know what they are talking about instead of people who are going to get her in trouble and she tells him well if I do that then Im not thinking for myself am I! He needs to get that kid away from her mother and get her some counseling before it's too late! The ex tells him she's given up and cant be bothered with her crap anymore. Yet if he told the ex he wanted her to come here she would say no way!

i am not an attorney but i work in the family court system. his best best is to call the Florida Department of Children and Families and make a report of suspected child abuse/maltreatment. his other option would be to try and get her out of FL by petitioning for custody, but if he doesn't have a good relationship with his daughter, for whatever reason, i wouldn't recommend that because it might make things worse (i mean his relationship with her). if things are really bad, DCF has the option of removing her from the home, and bringing her to a safer environment.

I am not an attorney, but I am a social worker and I work in the courts as well. Anyone can call in a report to the state central registry/ CPS (Florida may have a different name for it). IMO, it makes no difference if your DH and his daughter have no relationship. What matters, is that she is removed from the home and placed somewhere safe. When you call in a report, you don't have to give your name. Calls can be anonymous.

You can also look at ecourt.org or ecourt.net. I tried to look some stuff on it, but there were fees. But, it was only about $30 for 3 months so you can gain access to records. In addition, if you know the courthouse the case is being called out of, you can call their clerks office and get copies of court documents/court orders. The judge your DH will be seeing should also have copies of these court documents but its good to have it just in case.

Thanks! It's funny but DH and I were just having this discussion because we were talking to her on aim and of course she is alone in the house. I mean she's 15 but still it seems to be all the time and she just informed us that 3 of her friends died last night in a drunk driving accident and the kids were all about her age. i then went into her myspace and she posted video on youtube obviously while she and a friend were home alone and her friend is taking chugs from DH's ex's boyfriends bottle of whatever kind of alcohol in the fridge and flashing herself in her bra(the friend) to the camera. I told DH she is better off out of that house even if it means he needs to report all of this to DCF down there. His concern is that they wont contact him being her father and turn her over to her aunt and uncle or grandparents who are just as bad as the mother. Thanks for all the info. I'll have him check it out. My cousin is a cop in fla and she is trying to find out who down there(different area then were she works)can get me a copy of the police report to see what she was stopped for before she acctually assaulted the police officer. I hate to say it but I can only imagine it being a DUI

right, i totally agree with you as far as how fair the justice system is. i just know that it's been a rough road for DH with his ex and her family and i know it would kill him if she wound up with them and not him. Especially because all it means is she would stay with her mom really anyhow. Thanks for the info. though.

I am an atty in NY so I can't be of too much help with looking up FL records but you asked if there was anywhere you could look up records in NY. Here is the link to the criminal court system in NY. If you login as a guest it won't charge you a fee and you can look up open cases. I don't know if that helps you at all though.e-courts

I'm sure FL must have something similar.

Thanks! I have tried e-courts and although slightly helpful not what I was looking for. The two cases I was looking for are closed now they have been released for awhile. As far as fla. I have found that if you go to countyclerks through google there is a site that gives you all the county courts and you can pull up even traffic violations.

He needs to get an attorney in FL.

Also, to be safe, he needs to stop putting anything that could be misconstrued in writing to his daughter - including messages through MySpace. Family law cases can get sticky and personal, and just about anything can be used against you. Just be careful.

She doesnt know he knows about it. However last night he Im'd his daughter to get the new address and she basically told him to fu** off again so he called the ex and when she called back I feel like she was baiting him to side with her about the daughter being useless and a bit** I told DH you dont know if your daughter is listening to your comments about her behavior or how you feel about her friends. The ex could be getting you to say things to prove to your daughter your a jerk if it's taken out of context. Too much to handle.
