**UPDATED**Need Help!! How do I know if my water broke?!?!?!
First, I am 37w and 3d
Around 2am I woke up to go to the bathroom, upon return to my bed I lied down and felt something wet. I got up and saw a spot on the bed. The spot was about 3" in diameter (to me that's a small spot), and I smelled it, didn't smell like urine, but not so sure it was sweet either.
I got a towel, just incase, and tried to pay attention so see if anything more came out. I feel asleep, and woke up about 45 min ago, towel was dry.
Did my water break?!?! Was this just discharge or urine??? I call my Dr, but office is closed til 9, and recording says "If this is a TRUE emergency" I don't want to embarass myself with it NOT being my water.
DH is more freaked han I am b/c I've been telling him when my water breaks we have to go to the hospital.

If your water broke, it will be A LOT more water than that. Like "soaking" yet. Like you would have to fill several pads.
You could have been leaking though.
Call the doctor so they check.

This post sounds exactly like the beginning of my labor.
My water broke at 3am-ish. I left a message on the machine saying "I think my water broke & I'm starting to have contractions, or maybe not. Well according to your chart they are but I'm not sure. Anyway if you could call me back...."
It's certainly worth a call to your ob/gyn. You definitely won't be the first person to stop by to be checked.
eta. Mine wasn't a "gush" of water. I did need a pad because it was continuous

from what I recall in the hospital when they broke my water, it was a full out gush that they put a rolled up bath towel between my legs to soak it up.
I do believe that water breakage can be a slow leak or a full on gush (like in the movies). Some say it's like peeing, but if you use the muscles you use to start & stop your flow of pee, it won't work if it's your water.
does that help or make things worse???

When my water broke in the hospital it was a GUSH and you couldnt mistake it.
Hope u called just in case cause thats what they are there for

DYING over here for ya!
As you already know, I was at the lab re-doing the 3Hr glucose test...not fun.
I did call the dr's emergency # and he called back. I gave him all the details and he said though he can't be 100% w/o seeing me, it did not sound like my water broke b/c there was no more lekaing/wetness. He said it sounded like the mucus plug, which can come out in a clump or in bits similar to a sticky discharge. I have had a panyliner on all day, nothing out of the norm has gone on.
I did notice something earlier in the week, which after posting on here it was probably pieces of the mucus plug.
SO, things are progressing, just not water yet! 
I am anxious for my next Dr visit (wed) to see the results of the second 3Hr GTT, if it's borderline or failure, we'll schedule a c-section.
