Upset about something I found out today
I found out today that the mother of an estranged friend of mine died on Wednesday  I feel awful and very sad for her.
to make matters worse, her father is in the hospital in critical condition, but I don't know why. I only got pieces of the story.
I haven't seen or spoken to this estranged friend in over 6 years. the funeral is tomorrow and I don't want to go. I just feel really awkward about showing up. I will send a card and flowers though.
this poor woman... she lost her brother 10 yrs ago to cancer when he was only 23 yrs old.

I would feel uncomfortable going also but is it a situation where it would be Ok to send a small flower arrangement and just put something simple on the card like "Your family is in our thoughts & Prayers?"
I have a friendship that I don't speak with the girl anymore for various reasons, but I'd still be so upset if her mom or brother passed away -- so I'd want to do that.
Whatever you decide on

not sure why you were estranged but i think you really learn the goodness of people when things like this happen so if you decided against going, i think sending her a card would mean a lot.
