Re: U.S. sends hundreds of ventilators to Florida as Covid surge continues

After Gov. Ron DeSantis’ denial that Florida requested COVID-19 supplies prompted a back and forth with the White House, DeSantis said Wednesday his denial wasn’t inaccurate, rather the way the reporter asked the question caused confusion.
A reporter asked DeSantis Tuesday about a request from Florida’s Division of Emergency Management to the federal government for “respirators.” DeSantis said he hadn’t heard anything about that. And the Governor was right, because the request from Florida was for 300 ventilators.
“I was asked about respirators, which are actually different. And so, we’ve never really had any hospitals ask about it,” DeSantis clarified speaking to reporters at a press conference in Jacksonville Thursday.
So he basically he didn’t know what he was talking about.
He is claiming they used the wrong word. Lol

U.S. sends hundreds of ventilators to Florida as Covid surge continues
What troubles me about DeSantis is that I believe he will be running for President in the next election. What he’s doing in Florida (in my opinion) isn’t leadership.

I’m glad Cuomo is gone but I don’t think DeSantis isn’t doing the right thing by the people of Florida.
I thought Cuomo was ridiculous that he wrote a book about how to beat a pandemic during.. a pandemic. He is also problematic on so many levels and I’m glad he will be out of office.

If he was mandating people to not wear masks and fining anyone for wanting to wear them, I’d have a problem with that. But he’s leaving it up to the people, whoever feels the need to wear them, they should, and whoever feels the need to not wear them, they shouldn’t. I don’t see a problem with this at all. Mandates on the other hand, are arbitrary and a big government outreach especially when there’s so much contradictions coming from officials. Big Government is never a good thing for the people.

That’s all I am asking for lol.
I don’t choose party sides so I would like some good well rounded candidates to vote for!!!

But he sort of is. He says they may withhold salaries of officials who decide to enact mask mandates in their schools. So that’s what I mean: he preaches local rights but you could be penalized.

I agree. I think it would be great to debate which candidate is better rather than which candidate is the lesser of two evils.
The Republican party could be saved but they have to decide what route they want to travel. I know it’s caused a divide - should they continue with Trumpism or go back to more traditional? People say it’s Trump’s party now. Will be interesting to say the least.
Same can be said for the left. Liberals view Biden as more moderate and stays within the lines.

But why do schools feel entitled to enact mask mandates? He’s warning schools to -not mandate- masks and to leave it up to the parent. Again, just like the government, who are they to mandate people to wear or to not wear a mask? There are some parents that feel very strongly about masks, and there are also parents who feel equally strong against masks. Why would a school benefit one set of parents over the other? But if they leave it up to the parent, that would be a more impartial, and fair decision.

One county in Florida had to quarantine 440 kids after the second day of school. That’s a ton of kids.
Obviously there’s an issue going on, and even if the survival rate is great for kids, it’s distracting for students and staff. It’s disruptive to the educational process. I think if the situation wasn’t as bad, mask choice would be ideal.
There just has to be a better way, I think.

Did they test everyone at school as how did they know they were all sick? Obviously they all were sick before school started.

U.S. sends hundreds of ventilators to Florida as Covid surge continues
I think it was from over 50 positive cases and they quarantined as a preventive measure.
4 teachers just died from Covid in Broward County and they are one of the schools wanting to override the DeSantis policy. 3 of 4 of them were vaccinated.

2 of them were vaccinated. One was unknown, one was on her way as she had underlying issues that she could not get the vaccine for awhile.
Very sad. I wonder how long they all had it and what other issues they had besides covid as it says the deaths were covid related.

3 of 4? That’s concerning. I read the link and it said that some of those 50 ppl were staff, weren’t they masked? And I agree with Windy, 50 people testing positive just 2 days after school? It sounds like it happened before school. I imagine most of them were symptomatic for that many to test, unless testing is required to start school?
I think the quarantine measures need to be adjusted especially knowing this virus is not gonna go away. People will always be exposed...masked, or not, vaccinated, or not. I also think virtual options when someone is sick and needs to be away for several days are gonna need to be implemented indefinitely, especially if they’re gonna be so strict with covid requirements.

I meant to say 3 of the 4 teachers were unvaccinated, my mistake.
Which I read in most of the articles that they don't know the status of one and the other one was just getting hers as she had to delay it.
So 2 were unvaccinated. No mention of how long they were sick or what other issues they had.
Overall, any death is still very sad and very sad for the community and school and children.

What is your obsession with "other issues" these people may have had? It doesn't mean they deserved to die from COVID.

Have you read anything I post that I NEVER said anyone deserves to die from Covid. It is a known fact that the more issues you have, the more you are prone to be sicker with any illness.
The media does not want you to know when people have pre-existing conditions as it won’t scare you as much.
Also school didn’t even start so these teachers and the one woman who just worked in the schools when open, didn’t get from one another not had the chance to give it to the children. Another thing they did not mention in most of the news.

When will you LEARN it DOES NOT matter if a person has an underlying condition or not. COVID kills both........it's been around long enough for people to realize that yes if you have an underlying condition you are more likely to die from it but it's NOT a guarantee. Just like not having one will guarantee that you WON't end up dying.
