Vacation away from DD...getting sad
We planned a last minute trip to an all inclusive resort and spa in Cancun without the baby. She is four months old, and we really feel like we needed to get away for a vacation for a few days. We haven't been away since before the baby was born. We are going for three nights, four days. I am starting to feel a little nervous at this point though of being away from the baby for so many nights. My parents and DH's parents will be watching her. Anybody else feel any anxieties when they left their newborn for the first time? How old was your newborn when you first went away?

Re: Vacation away from DD...getting sad
Hi, I can relate, b/c although not going on vacation, I dropped DD at my mom's house yesterday for the next 2 days b/c I went back to school & have parent meetings at night (& DH works nights) so it was just easier.
I miss her to pieces already...(& its only been 24 hours)
She's 7 1/2 weeks old.
Obviously she's in good hands, but I just miss her so much.
But you & DH need time to regroup & I'm sure it'll be fine.

Re: Vacation away from DD...getting sad
You know what, it's such a hard thing. On the one hand, you need a break and on the other hand, you don't want to leave them. I do think that it's good for us to have time to reconnect with our hubbies, though. Infact, it's incredibly important. We used to drop Ava off at my parents house for a few days in the beginning just so we could have a freaking conversation You will never feel carefree about leaving her, she's your baby girl, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go. Once you get there, chances are that you'll enjoy yourself so much and not feel as anxious. Have fun!

Try to enjoy yourself. That is a perfect amount of time to get away. You will miss the baby, but you will come back re-charged! Have fun!

Re: Vacation away from DD...getting sad
Thank you all for the advice. I was feeling really guilty about it. I know it will be so hard. I will def worry. Hope I'm not the only one though that left their baby at 4 months.

Definitely not! I feel like the earlier you start to do it, the easier it becomes. I truly believe that our marriages need their own attention, too, so it's never too early to start that

Re: Vacation away from DD...getting sad
Wow! I am so jealous..My DD is 8 months old and we haven't even been to the movies since she was born. I keep trying to get Dh to go away..but he is very boring and doesn't want to..which we don't have the money to go anyway..We haven't been away since our honeymoon..how pathetic..
Enough of my own venting.. Go and enjoy..I am sure it will be very fun & relaxing. You will miss your DD, but you have grandparents to take care of her. 4 months is a perfect age to go away..before seperation anxiety starts..

Re: Vacation away from DD...getting sad
We left our DD at 7 months for the first time. It was an agonizing decision but I knew we needed a get away just the two of us. She didn't miss us AT ALL. She was spoiled rotten by her grandma, grandpa and aunt. I say go and have a great time. She will fine and so will you

Re: Vacation away from DD...getting sad
Almost 2 years and still haven't left her. I just can't do it. I did one night with the girls but she was with DH so I don't worry about that.
