Vacation ideas

We have our big vacation for this year all set - a week in Disney! Yay!

I’m looking for ideas for next year - 2020. My son will be 5/6, depending upon when we go. He’s pretty easy going so I’m thinking we could go literally anywhere.

I’m brainstorming now because I need to plant the seed with my husband early so he can be “prepared”.

Re: Vacation ideas

I just got back from the Nickelodeon Resort in Punta Cana with my family (boys 4 and 7) and it was amazing! We only went for a long weekend but I could easily have stayed for 5-7 days. If you want to check out my vacation FB page I'll post the link. You can see some of pictures and daily reports. I can even help you book it if you're interested.

Vacation ideas

We just came back from Atlantis. Fun place! But, I don't recommend it, since I think there are other places that are a better value. I was blown away at how expensive stuff is there! We had been for the day from a couple of cruises, and loved it, so used Marriott points to stay there. Even with points, we spent an astronomical amount of money on food, and we don't even eat very much!

Funny, I was just telling Dh that my boss went there like 8 years ago and was saying how his son wanted a glass of milk at breakfast one day and it was like 8 bucks!
I hear it's ridiculous there in terns of food prices.

$47 for a pizza and drinks! A regular pizza, smaller than a NY pizza! $25 for a pina colada and a bag of raw veggies at the pool. It was ridiculous! And they charge a $55.95 per night resort fee and $5 per person housekeeping fee. The resort fee included free wifi which NEVER worked! Then we had an incident at the waterpark, my son choked on a hot dog. The staff was so inept...the nurse, horrible. I was blown away by the whole experience, totally soured the end of our trip.

These resort fees kill me. You pay astronomical rates per night and it doesn't include wifi or a beach chair? Please.
But a housekeeping fee too???? So the high price of the room AND the resort fee doesn't include a room cleaning? GTF out of here.
Such a rip off.
These places are thieves

I totally agree. I went a few years ago. I felt scammed the whole time. Service was horrible. Prices were arbitrary. When the cruises come, the place became ridiculously packed. The weather (in dry season) was not great for a solid week. We liked the water park, but you should be a strong swimmer to enjoy it safely. We actually did the meal plan and kids ate free (2 kids at the time)... which was not cheap but good because of the $$$ of the food. We would not go back... there are better destinations. Also... BIL went to the new Bahamas hotel complex that opened (Baha Del Mar) and said similar things about that. He couldn’t believe the service could be SO bad.
