Vacuum recommendations, esp those with pets
I am looking to get a new vacuum. Of course I want the Dyson but it's a little pricey. Any recs on great vacuums that pick up pet hair and don't weigh 100 lbs? thanks

B,B&B and LNT WILL let you use the 20% off coupons even though the coupons say "not valid on Dyson". I bought mine at LNT that way - $320
we've had the yellow DC07 for almost 2 years and it still works just as well as the day we got it. worth every penny! the way I justified it was... I can either spend $320 now and not have to worry about getting a new one in a few yrs, or buy a cheap one and keep replacing it like I have in the past. I made a great decision!
The only downside to a bagless vac like the Dyson, everytime I empty the canister I am so disgusted by what that thing pulls out of the carpet it is seriously GROSS

I couldn't agree more! We have the purple animal dyson, and we love it. We lived in our apt for 2 years and went thru 2 vacuums, plus the bags you have to purchase for the stupid things, and the belt wearing down. The dyson avoids all this mess, and it cleans great each time it's used. I can't wait to use it more in our new home!

Re: Vacuum recommendations, esp those with pets
I agree about getting a good vacuum and not cheaping out.
We got the Kenmore Progressive. It's canister and does great on floors and carpet.
We have two kitties and there's always fur everywhere. I vacuum about twice a week. It's also great at picking up spllied litter.
It has a HEPA filter and the bags are really big. I've had one bag in there for about 3 months. It's also light.
Just don't cheap out, get something good.

I have the Animal Dyson also, so that's what I would recommend. But it is very heavy and was expensive. I got it as a shower gift, so I don't know if I would have spent over 500 on it myself. I hear very good things about Kenmore vacuums. I'd look into that line. HTH
