Valentine's Day Advice
I have been dating someone for about 3 weeks, can someone help me out on what kinda of gift I should get him?
He's in his late 20's if that helps.
TIA!

Re: Valentine's Day Advice
When i met DH it was three weeks before valentine's day and I got him a coffee table book of one of his favorite painters. Felt like it said I like you enough to know what you like instead of something too personal like jewlery

Re: Valentine's Day Advice
I just asked my DH what he would want and he said he wouldn't expect much. I would say go for something you know he is interested in and go off of that. sorry i wasn't much help. lol

I can only imagine the answer.
I would get him something quite casual.

Re: Valentine's Day Advice
I asked DH and he said nothing...Just go out to dinner. DH thinks a gift would be weird and scare him off.
DH thinks the homemade card is a very bad idea and said "No way, that's sick and stalkerish." Unless you professed your love already (and it was mutual), I'd get a plain store-bought card that isn't too mushy.

Re: Valentine's Day Advice
Take something he is into and get something casual about it- like a book or CD. Its personal enough to say I am getting to know you, without being too romantic or personal.

Re: Valentine's Day Advice
Dh & I weren't all that serious, so I bought him a box of Elvis chocolates (he's obsessed with Elvis) and an Elvis valentine's day card. Oh and I think I got him a Steelers t-shirt since I was temping at the NFL back then.
Every year since then, I buy him a box of Elvis chocolates, it's tradition.

A cd or a small box of chocolates...I think the homemade card idea is sweet. Especially with you being a teacher....

Re: Valentine's Day Advice
I think I made him brownies and gave him a cutsy kind of card. We were only dating a month when Valentines Day came. My friend was dating her DH a little over a week when V-Day came and she gave him a humorous card and a box of chocolate.
Better to keep it light for now.

Re: Valentine's Day Advice
I met DH a week before his birthday and the day we met we were talking about a band that I really liked, so I copied the CD for him and wrapped it. I thought about buying him a new CD, but thought it might be a little weird to get a present after knowing him a week, but I think after 3 weeks a CD would be fine.

Re: Valentine's Day Advice
Since you're a teacher, the card is not that weird, but I would leave it at that. Just write something simple in it such as: It's been cool hanging out with you these past few weeks...
A mini box of chocolate is not overkill.
Or, as a PP mentioned, just go out to dinner together.

Re: Valentine's Day Advice
I actually met DH 2-3 weeks prior to valentine's day and I was in the same situation 3 years ago. I actually just got him a casual card..."Happy's Valentine's Day" and a bottle of wine. It all worked out in the end...we are happily married! Good Luck! have fun!

Since you said his bday is next month you can always get something a little bit more personal then if everything is going well.
