VBAC?
Did anybody on here do this or know somebody that did? My doctor says that while I'm a good candidate, he'd rather I just get another C-section, because the risk of uterine rupture is too high. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the risk was only slight...

Re: VBAC?
Ask Michele31 - she has tons of great info for this stuff.
My girlfriend just had VBAC - it went great. Her doc was totally against it but she put up a fight and both she and her daughter did great.

Re: VBAC?
At 31 weeks, I am hoping to VBAC soon, but with my baby still breech yet again, I am not ruling out a repeat c/s. My doc supports me in a VBAC, however, each time we discuss it, he does remind me of the risks. I guess only time will tell for me.

Thanks! I have a feeling I'm going to have to put up a fight myself.

Aw, I hope that the baby turns around and you're able to have the VBAC! Good luck

Re: VBAC?
i had a csection, and was not giving the option of a vbac, the doc said my risk of uterine rupture was too high. and thank god i followed his instructions. cause during my second csection they realized that my uterus and bladder are so close together that if i would have had a vaginal birth, it would have been extremly dangerous. but that was just my case. its alot to think about, just weigh the pros and cons, and go with is the most safe.

Re: VBAC?
I will be VBAC'ing hopefully. Im not sure what the "high risk of uterine rupture" comments are based on b/c my OB and anything I've read says the risks are low. If they attempted to use anything like Pitocin or Cervadil, thats when the risk goes much higher. But its my understanding they will not use them. I know my OB wont. A VBAC really is based on a perfect scenario - mainly that you go into labor and progress on your own. Other factors to consider are the baby's size and your history (why did you have the prior c/s?, when was your last c/s, etc.). AND...just to be honest, some OBs are more VBAC-friendly than others. My OB happens to be very pro-VBAC and thinks I am a good candidate. I have already had a successful vbirth with a big baby (my son) - I went into labor on my own and progressed nicely. My daughter was only a c/s b/c she was breech. I actually went into labor a week before her EDD, which is also good when considering a VBAC. Based on those factors, Im a good candidate. However, Im at 28 weeks currently and there are still different circumstances that can arise which make it necessary for me to have a repeat c/s. I am OK with it but am truly hoping for the VBAC.
Bottom line: I think there are quite a few factors to consider when it comes to VBACs, the least of which is your OB. Some just have much different criteria than others but in the end, I will go with what my OB feels is safest for me & the baby. I dont think its wrong for you to question your OB though, most importantly, you should fully understand the doctors reasons for advising you better suited for a c/s.

Thanks for your response! Well, that's the only reason I'm questioning him, because his reasoning just didn't make much sense. All I've heard is that the risk of uterine rupture is very low and he went on and on about how high it is.
