DH and I however would not be happy about the lack of food choices. DH feels like he needs some type of meat or fish in order for it to be a meal, but we would just deal with it. He'd probably head straight to Arby's after the wedding. Chat Icon

I am the same. I read that sample menu and to me some of it sounded great- but it sounded like all side dishes.
Lots of veges and risottos and noodles.
All sides.

But I agree that if they have moral reasons for being vegan than I wouldn't expect them to serve meat.

I wold rather have sides than wheat balls & "chik'n". (Side note: I love the side dish meal at Boston Market)
The link I posted was from a place in Seattle. It sounded like a buffet menu. I'm curious what a ny-style sit down dinner with main courses would be. A vegetable curry can be a main course. PETA had suggestions too, but it was largely fake meat & fake cheese.

I do agree that vegans should serve what makes them comfortable. I do have a funny story though. So DH's cousin got married around 5 years ago (both vegan). I guess we didnt think about what the choices would be and went unaware. So cocktail hour comes (mind u my DH is a total meat eater and doesnt like too many veggies). There is HUGE line to a "carving" station. We cant see what it is but it seems to be the only food option so we get on the line. We must have waited like 20 minutes on this line. We are both pretty hungry at that point (sat through ceremony etc). We finally get up to the station and I sh*t u not it was a single Heirloom Tomato they were carving. My husband looks at me with a look that I had to hold my laughter in like hes thinking are u f'in serious?? So he politely takes his tomato slice on his plate and we walk away. He was so pissed and I was literally almost peeing myself from laughter.

We had a great time at the wedding (my poor DH was starving when we left lmao) but I was very happy with the food. We still laugh about the tomato.

How do you carve a tomato???? I feel I need to know this.

My DH would be pouting the whole time after that!

A tomato? Lol Chat Icon

Lol! I was a vegan for a while, and I would still be disappointed. There is a lot of amazing, delicious vegan food in the world. A slice of tomato....not so much.

Lmao I dont know but it was this huge tomato and they had it on a cutting board type thing and were slicing it and plating it. Seeing people's faces with their plate of tomato slice walking away was priceless after waiting on this crazy long line Chat Icon
