VEndor VENT and Warning re: Who NOT to use !!
I want to scream - this is long .........
Elegant Entries is TERRIBLE and I would NEVER EVER EVER recommend them to anyone -
We have a round top front door - we knew it was going to have to be custom made and probably $$ - but we like the look of it and it 'goes' w/ our house, so we wanted to keep the round top- SO, we order a custom steel door w/ decorative glass and a full length glass/screen door .......total price w/ installation a little over $4k - Order was placed the first week of APRIL and they told us it would be 8-12 weeks. - Understandable, custom order.
So, on week 14, I still haven't heard anything so I left a message requesting a status of the order - I work in a service related environment so I am always extremely polite and accomdating in my requests - after 2 weeks, 6 phone messages and NO call back I am beyond annoyed. We're now on week 16 and I can't even get a RETURN call regarding the status of my $4k door order ?? - Finally, my DH calls and leaves a nasty message and I get a return call from some woman who's obviously reading a written message saying she's giving me a 'courtesy call' and the glass for the door is on backorder, but they can install the door w/ temporary glass any time after 8/6 - call her back immediately and let her know what I want to do .........the tone of the message is obnoxious ..........
So, I call her back and I explain who I am and that I'm returning her call in regards to blah blah blah - She tells me she 'probably' just recommended that they MIGHT be able to install w/ the temp glass .........So I TELL her what her message said and I ask her:
- Is it the glass for the screen door? OR the decorative glass for the main steel door that's on back order .....? " I don't know" (as if I'm asking a ridiculous question and as if I'm a moron for expecting her to know this "Do you want the installation done?"
- Do they have any idea when the 'backordered' phamtom glass will be in? "I DON'T know .........do you want the installation done"
- Ok, well, is there someone I can speak to who can help me? I don't know if I am comfortable installing w/ temp glass - "I AM helping you"
- I'm sorry, I need to speak to someone who can help answer my questions and tell me what is going on with my order" "I DID tell you what's going on with your order"
- (Ok, fine, I'll play along) .....Is there any reason why it would NOT be a good idea for me to do the installation w/ temp glass? Is the seal not the same when they switch it out? etc? "I don't think you understand, I'm just the receptionist, I don't know any of these things .........."
Finally I have had enough and I tell her Listen, I understand you are 'just the receptionist' but I have questions regarding my order with the company you work for and it is not unreasonable of me to expect to speak to someone who can answer them - "Well, my manager is not here now....." - Ok, well, I need someone to call me back who CAN answer my questions..... "I'll talk to my manager and get back to you" - NO, I want SOMEONE ELSE to call me back - SOMEONE who is NOT just a receptionist, someone who CAN ANSWER these questions, and any other questions that may come up considering it takes you people 2 weeks to return a phone call .............
W T F ????? If I treated a customer like that I'd probably get fired !!! - It's one thing if you don't know, but then you say, I'm sorry I don't know, I have to find out for you ......or whatever -
She just says I don't know like I'm an idiot for asking and then there's dead silence until I ask another question ..........and this is NOT a kid on the phone either -
If I didn't already wait 4 months for this effing door I swear I'd cancel my order -

I would start yelling until she had no choice but to put someone else on the phone. That is crazy! I would cancel the order also. I know you have waited awhile for it, but it's still your $$$ and it's not a cheap expense that we are talking about here. I wouldn't want temp glass in the door. Oh boy! Lots of and lots of patients to you. GL! Let us know what happens.

I wouldn't cancel the order.
I would demand a deep discount...
or have Help me Harry (or whoever's on the news) ask them for me.
canceling the order is just cutting off you nose...I'd get the door AND get the discount.

This is why I don't want to cancel - I'm just going to have find another company who does custom work and start all over again .........and I REALLY like the door I chose ...........
Unfortunately, I'm making the call from work so I have to somewhat keep my composure .........Or believe me, I would have been like a lunatic after that last phone call - there is just so far I can be pushed. - If it's not resolved this week, DH and I will be taking a trip to one (or all) of their showrooms to discuss with someone in person ...........SOMEONE has to be around !! -
