Vent about people expecting my ds to be potty trained
DS won't even be two for two more months but for some reason at least 4 people during the holidays said things to me like shouldn't he be potty trained already or I guess he's almost potty trained etc. Mix between non-parents and parents of much older kids who I guess don't remember or maybe in the past kids trained earlier?
DS is 22 months. We have a potty and a video but tbh he shows zero interest and I THOUGHT that was pretty normal.
I guess this is just a vent. I felt so awkward responding to these people.

Tell them to mind their own fecking business. Thats what you can tell them to do.

Not normal for a 22 mth old to be trained. Who are these people and why do they think they KNOW what they are talking about?

Re: Vent about people expecting my ds to be potty trained
I had a similar experience.
My son wasn't in daycare or anything, and I think they teach them (or at least help them learn) how to do it pretty early there. I feel that those who had kids who were in daycare were always surprised to find out that my DS wasn't trained yet.
My son wasn't ready until 3.5. I tried earlier, at everyone's urging, but he just wasn't ready.

Re: Vent about people expecting my ds to be potty trained
One of my big realizations since having my DS is that parents of older kids often don't remember at what age their kids did certain things. Unfortunately, these are usually the same people who tell you at what age your kid should be doing something.

WHAT SHE SAID
DS is 26mo and goes on the potty at daycare; but he is not trained by any means. my ped says boys are usually on the later side, 3yrs old and later sometimes.

Re: Vent about people expecting my ds to be potty trained
DS is 27 months and starting last week became obsessed with the potty. I was shocked. I think closer to 3 is more the norm! I kinda wish he was closer to 3 because he would get it quicker! He's so into it now so I don't want to discourage him but I think we will be training for a long time!

I think around 3 for boys is more the norm. Just respond that if they want him to be trained, for them to come and train him themselves.
They need to mind their own business!

Tell them "He is potty trained, but when he sees you, you scare the sh!t out of him! It's not his fault!.... "
