VENT: we are soooo over nebulizer treatments in this house
DH, me, and esp Josh.
day in and day out for 20 mos.
I can't even think of another thing to bribe this child with.
I dread this part of my day. Last night, he refused, I don't blame him, so I told him go to bed. He came down and said he was sorry but he's really not even doing anything wrong.
So I yelled at josh, dh yelled at me, I cried, and Josh yelled at dh for yelling at me.
All because of this effing machine.
I honestly don't think I have the fight in me when the baby comes along.
that's it bedtime starts in 7 minutes and I am dreading this nonsense

DD was on a nebulizer for a week and it was tragic. I can only imagine what its like for that long. Hang in there!

Make a chain link. Maybe like 14 to get you through 2 week clips. On the insides write random things such as: "give mommy a kiss" "get a hershey kiss" "stay up 15 minutes past bedtime"
Every day after he does the treatment let him open a link and he gets to do it.
Kind of makes it exciting to him not knowing what the paper will say

Re: VENT: we are soooo over nebulizer treatments in this house
thanks jess!
the candy one would not work at this point neither would extra 15 minutes since he is like a little out of control crackhead if he is told to lay down within the hour of the treatment.
I have more recently moved to water balloons...first gets to bring them in tub.
now, he gets to hit dh with one as he walks to the house dh said I need to come up with something new quick.
But I like the idea of a suprise that he gets to read. just have to think of surprises

janice,
would he use a metered dose inhaler? as far as i know, the delivery of the meds is just as good, if not better than with the nebs.
and it takes just a few seconds - literally.
jonah would never, ever, ever tolerate the nebs... but the mdi worked like a charm most days.
ETA:
We switched from the nebulizer to the inhaler and it is a million times easier!! Her pedi told me it was just as effective as the nebulizer which makes me wonder why they tortured me for weeks before suggesting the inhaler

Re: VENT: we are soooo over nebulizer treatments in this house
I can totally relate. We are a slave to this thing. Except for a break in the Summer DS has been on it for 1.5 year. It is getting VERY old.
I can only do it at night when he sleeps. With his sensory issue it was a complete nightmare. It's DH's "duty" every night. Our pulmonologist said it was OK to do it when he was asleep. He knows how complicated it is with DS.
