VENT: Went to dinner with friends last night..

and came back SO upset. It just really occurred to me that my friends are so inconsiderate.

I think I'm still on the defensive about not being pregnant, because it took a while, but I get so disgusted when someone yells across a table of 10 - "when are you going to have a baby?" W T F - NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, and if it was your business, you can ask me in person, not in a group setting. I have one friend who literally goes around the table at the last few "girls" dinners we had and asks the married girls this.
Finally, last night I snapped back and said, "this is not table talk, and by the way - when are you getting engaged?"

People are just so ignorant. If I didn't announce anything then a) I'm not trying and don't want to b) I am trying but do not want to share, and maybe I'm having problems or c) I'm PREGNANT BUT I HAVEN'T TOLD MY MOM YET SO LEAVE ME THE HE LL ALONE!

I said, "after our house is done", and one "friend" replied, "she says as she sips her water".

I'm really mad at myself for even going. One friend got engaged, so I felt obliged, but I knew the on the spot treatment would happen.

RUDE!

ETS: Once I make it to 12 safe wks (knock on wood) I told DH I am calling this friend and explaining to her, if she doesn't want to alienate other friends, this is one question she should refrain from asking in a public restaurant .

I get that some people just don't understand what a private matter this is until it's real to them (like the other friend that was happy to share her oh so perfectly laid out plan to get pregnant in 2 months and deliver during her summer vacation, because it's not til next yr) but I think people should be reminded - this is private!

I think thats a good idea, but be sure to tell her in a nice way, so it really sinks in, instead of making her get defensive....

I think people who aren't there yet have NO idea how personal that question can be.... they probably didn't mean any harm, but it IS absolutely annoying!

Chat Icon to you for handling it so well!!!
