Re: Anyone find taking a break is the answer?
We arent charting or temping. I am in the 2ww of my 5th month as well. The more measures I take to ensure conception, the more obsessive I can (and do) become. For me, it becomes counter productive and really tears at my heart. I wonder why it is so easy for some and not for others.
I think what you are feeling is very normal and if taking a "break" is what you need to help you feel better, then do it. I know a bunch of ladies here have done the same thing.

i TOTALLY AGREE and am the same way
Although i have to say i have took a break and it def helped for a while.
IMO all the stress can be very counter productive so i think having a month or so to just not think about all the little details is VERY GOOD FOR YOU.

I took a break too. I know it will happen when it is ready to happen.

Re: Anyone find taking a break is the answer?
i totally hear you... the way i see it, trying to conceive is a) all-consuming, and yet b) only minimally in my control. NOT a good combination!!
last month i felt like i was going all out- i charted and temped and OPKd and i thought everything was timed just right, and then... AF. the disappointment was overwhelming and it was starting to stress me out big time.
this month i decided to stop temping, because i realized that having trying to conceive be the first thing on my mind in the morning was setting me up for a whole day of obsessing over it. ok, who am i kidding, i am still obsessing over it - just a teensy weensy bit less...
stopping the temping was my way of taking a mental "break" from ttc. i anticipate that if i don't conceive in the next few months, i will need to take a break from ttc altogether...

Re: Anyone find taking a break is the answer?
This is a very healthy decision. My mother tried for 2 solid years [in her 20s] to have another child...charting and timing it all. Well...they gave up. 11 months later, I had a baby sister. Had she kept trying, she might have never had another. [she was one of those women who without BC was always 28 days on the dot ]

Re: Anyone find taking a break is the answer?
I charted and obsessed for about 6 mos. before I decided to "take a break." That same month I got pg! I have to say it was a relief to no longer have to temp every morning (I was VERY anal about it) and since I had a good idea about my cycle already, I knew when would be a good time to BD. Of course the stress of BDing was still there, but it was definitely liberating not to be a slave to my thermometer and temperatures anymore! I say give it a shot - you can always go back to it in a month or two!
Good luck!!

I had the exact situation. Once the stress was off I got a BFP the first month. Stress does crazy things to your body.

Re: Anyone find taking a break is the answer?
I am not charting or temping because I think I will drive myself crazy. We are also entering the 5th month and yes it is VERY frustrating! hang in there!

I'm going to take a break this month. I'm getting to the point where I just can't do this anymore.
Fertility testing starts soon anyway. I give up. (white flag waving)

Re: Anyone find taking a break is the answer?
We are on our 3rd month. I was temping and using OPKs. I relied too much on the OPK and against my better judgement didn't BD when I should have (we stayed at my IL's making it difficult to do). Even though I knew I should be Oing at any day I was waiting for a positive OPK.
I feel like I know my cycle now though and may give up temping next month if I don't get a BFP.
It is so frustrating especially since my cousin and friend from HS are both pregnant. When's it my turn???

Re: Anyone find taking a break is the answer?
I've decided not to do any temping charting, checking CM, anything other than having fun DH and trying the low-tech old fashion way. I want to enjoy the holidays and just let what happens happen.

Re: Anyone find taking a break is the answer?
Sneezy, I just wanted to wish you luck. I just went through all the fertility testing and as invasive as it is, it will feel good to start ruling things out and getting some answers.
To SweetCaroline, I think it may be healthy for you to take a break. Just try to enjoy your dh .
I had to go speak to my mothers psychiatrist( she is aware of mine and dh's struggle ttc) and she said something to me that I would like to share with you: Enjoy your time with your husband because once you have kids it will never be the same. She told me to have fun again.
I wish you ladies the best of luck- ttc is something that emotionally you can't imagine until you are involved in it. It's like you really can't prepare for whats to come, it so hard sometimes to just "go with it".
