Venting..

I’m so upset that my DS has a new speech pathogist this year. He’s now in 4th, and for the last 5 years in his school district we were blessed with awesome therapists. This year, this woman is the absolute worst. He receives 10 mins everyday, and from sept-dec she has excuse after excuse why she didn’t see him, so I got the principal and her big boss involved. She sent me this holiday letter telling me she’s going to do better and make my DS a priority again. I’ll admit after that I disliked her, and every time a little thing happens, I get extremely angry.

1. She started texting my 10 Yo, while they weren’t inappropriate or anything, this made me uncomfortable and I blocked her on his cell.
2. She sent me an email saying my DS didn’t show up to a session and that I need to be more involved and reminding him of his times. He let me know that he went to her class and the lights were off and door closed so he went back to class, but I took the high road and let it go.
3. She then sent an email this morning telling me that my DS didn’t upload his videos for the last 2 weeks and copied the principal. So I let her know that the platform doesn’t work at our house, so he has to remember to upload the videos and the weeks worth of homework every Monday once he gets to school, and with the snow and him having band before school, it’s been difficult for him to remember, and I asked if it would be possible to use my cell instead and just email the files. Well she flipped out in the email and tried taking off the principal, so my DH added the principal back and wasn’t very nice in his reply.

I’m so over fighting with this woman. I want his old speech pathogist back!! So thank your therapists if they are awesome, even the semi good ones, because I’ve found out if they are bad, it’s just soo bad. Thanks for letting me vent.. we have our annual meeting coming up and I just reached out to my advocate to put it on his calendar because I’m over it and don’t even want to be in the same room as that lady.

I would absolutely bring up to the principal the fact the teacher was texting your child. This is inappropriate and violated our school email text policy. Communications are supposed to go through parents first. I would make an in person meeting with your IEP coordinator.

Definitely complain to the principal / head of special ed. This woman's behavior is not acceptable. Demand a new therapist.

I have put up with crappy therapists in the past and it was so much better when I decided to let them go.
