Very first sono tomorrow. Quick question....
I always thought your very first sono was an internal sonogram. When I called to make this appt, I asked if it was an internal sono or not and I was told it was not (but this receptionist didn't know the answer to a few other questions I had asked during this call).
Was your first sono internal or not? Is it different at with every dr's office?
Sorry if this is a stupid question...

Internal sono was our first one. The first external sono was at 12 weeks.

First one was internal..I think if they do an external its a lot harder to see anything, so don't be nervous!

Not a stupid question and yes it was-I was told it was too early to see anything with the external.

My first sono with DD was 6 weeks and internal. This baby was 8 weeks and internal. Two different OBGYN's. When the baby is under 10 weeks, it can be hard to pick it up with the external sono.

Internal for our first few sonos. Our first external sono was at 12 weeks for the NT scan.

My first sonogram was an internal one. This may sound wierd but it hurt less than the external ones.

I didn't know how far along I was with this pregnancy so they started with an external, couldn't see anything, and proceeded to do an internal.
First time around I knew I was around 6 weeks so they did an internal from the get go.
The receptionist probably doesn't know what she's talking about.

I think every office is different from what I have seen on here. For me first was internal at 9 weeks, second was also internal at 12 weeks, and now for my level II I think it will be an external. Not sure?
