Vitamins with flouride
DD's pediatrician has had her on the liquid vitamin since she's about six months and it contains flouride. However, her toothpaste is flouride FREE. Why is she getting a vitamin WITH flouride, but her toothpaste specifically states there is NONE in it?

Re: Vitamins with flouride
Here is what my pediactric dentist told me:
The flouride in the vitamins are for the teeth before they actually come up from the gums. It will help the developing baby teeth and adult teeth when they are still inside.
The flouride in the toothpaste is for the teeth once they are exposed.
She also told me that we could have been using children's flouride toothpaste on DS from the beginning of his teeth coming up. She said that you use such a tiny amount that, if swallowed, it would not be an issue.
Not sure if that is all true, but that is what I was told.

Re: Vitamins with flouride
Vitamins are a controlled amt, whereas toothpaste and the swallowing of it, you cannot control the amt.
