For those whose DC take both an ant-acid and flouride drops, I have some questions.

So, you can't give the flouride drops within 2 hours of an ant-acid and DS in on Zantac twice a day. He gets it first thing in the morning and is one his way to daycare and hour and a half later and gets the next one when he gets home at 6 and is in bed by 7pm. So I don't have a 2hour window. I asked daycare if they would give him the flouride and they will not (don't want to hang onto something that is not a required, medical prescription--won't do vitamins or anything like it). So I called the doc saying I can't give it to him. Nurse said to hold off on the flouride till his 9month visit cause there's a good chance he'll be off Zantac then. I'm just curious what everyone else does. Did/does your flouride come with the same label (I don't know if the flouride would have come with that label since I had sepcifically asked the pharmacist to check) and wait for a gap? Did you start your flouride later on? Does it really effect them if you start later on? TIA!

i have never heard that you cant give the vitamins and the zantac at the same time or close to each other. i always give hannah her meds around the same time. what is the issue with giving them at the same tme?

Well, this isn't vitamins, it's just the flouride. I don't have an explanation. It's just a label the pharmacy put on the bottle. When I explained everything to the woman at daycare, she called the nurse at the Suffolk Childcare Council (or something like that) and she said the nurse told her the same thing, but also that the best time to give a child the flouride is right before bed. When I called the doc today to ask what to do, they didn't say it was OK, they told me to wait to give himt he flouride till the next visit and we'll evaluate if we can take him off Zantac yet. So, all arrows point to everyone agreeing that it shouldn't be given at the same time--but they never said this at the doc office when they prescribed it!

hmm i am going to investigate this further. hannah takes the multi vit with floride in it and zantac. i am going to call the child council at suffolk and ask the nurse again, my aunt works for them so hopefully i can get some more answers.
