Viva Fiesta!! AJ's 2nd Grade required Float - Book of Life
Every year the second graders (only) do a parade at school during Fiesta week (this week).
It is mandatory.
I asked her what she wanted. I was totally prepared and planning a big ball gown Cinderella in my head.
AJ: "Book of Life"
Huh???
AJ: "The Lady from Book of Life"
Me: "The Queen of SOULS!?"
AJ: "yeah the lady with the big hat and candles, she's pretty"
Me: (internally) "Crap"
So here you go. My first attempt at posting a video. This is AJ's Book of Life float of La Muetra - Queen of Souls from The Book of Life Movie. We chose to remove her hat because she's pulled on the floor and it would hide her face. It's supposed to look like she's riding on the book of life itself.
It was a $4 Walmart Barbie. I had to put it aside for a week because AJ as in trouble and not working on it was her punishment. But we hammered it out in two weekends. Finished it up this past weekend.
Video was the easiest way to show it all.

Good thing I got a video because..........
She broke it 
She took it to school, dropped it, flipped it and the doll went flying out and across a room.
Yuppers! My kid totally my kid.
LOL
She said she cried but the teacher was able to shove the doll back onto her stand and last I heard it still looks 'pretty'.
LOL She was pretty amazed I wasn't upset. I was amused she cried at all. Its a doll and a one day float, it's just a thing. And I told her so. I said we have a video of it and pictures of all the work we did together to make it. We have the memories and the stories of how it came together, breaking it won't change that.
Now she's a happy clam. Her parade is tomorrow. I'm painting her nails red and putting little skulls on them to match her float.
