Voting & the grocery store
So today I was grocery shopping and an old woman came up to me and said something like, "Just talking about voting. It's really important for you to make a difference. Things have gone way too far...."
and then walked away. I thought it was interesting, obviously I am going to be voting but I was trying to decide if she was just encouraging me to vote, or to vote a certain way....what do you think?

ah I see.
well it could be easily argued on both sides
...it has gone to far, obama's lead. you must vote mccain
...it has gone to far, the state of the economy..vote Obama!

I take it as
"You're young, therefore make sure you vote, because its the young people who can make a difference in this election. The same old policies have gone on too long and need to be changed"

Re: Voting & the grocery store
This may be a really silly question BUT.... since we know that NY will go to Obama (electoral votes) why vote?
don't get me wrong..Im voting...just feel like I DON'T have that voice though.

You never know. Yes, NY will probably go to Obama (Yippy), but you should still vote, even for your local officals, state, etc. Plus, its your right as a US citzen to vote. JMO

thankfully no...I think I would be in a much worse mood if those two things had gone together today (or ever!)
It's basically irrelevant to me what she meant since I was already going to vote, just thought it was interesting that she felt the need to approach a stranger (and potentially others in the store as well) and yet wasn't entirely clear on her message

Re: Voting & the grocery store
Maybe she meant we (as women) have come too far for you not to exercise your right to vote? If she was that old she could just be scenile and really meant to ask you what aisle the canned peas are in but it came out as a lecture on voting
